What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2501

Okay Dokey I’m now onto Petite, a Swiss « German Lager » and possibly my first Swiss Beer.



It’s a good one.

 

High Hops Brewery -- Blueberry Wheat

look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

Golden yellow body; lots of fine and lively carbonation; thick, billowy head, creamy on top. Prominent blueberry note in the aroma, but not overpowering. Taste has a low presence of blueberry with a slight cereal grain note; very low bitterness, most noticeable at the finish. Medium-light body; a bit thin; semi-dry taste overall.

This beer looks and smells great but the taste is rather dull and watery. The hop bitterness (such as it is) is the most lasting and distinctive aspect of the flavors. Still, not bad if blueberry flavor and aroma are something you like in a beer.

Not a beer I would seek out, but my neighbor Tactical Bob brought it over, so I gave it my best shot...actually, some single-barrel bourbon sounds good right now...

 

Tommyknocker -- Blood Orange IPA

Excellent reddish-orange body; lively carbonation; head is thick and sculpted, long lasting; rings of foam drop down the glass. Smell sings fresh squeezed orange juice. Nicely balanced mixture of light malt, fruity esters, and tempered hop bitterness; biscuit; orange; a hint of lemon. Medium body; crisp and lightly prickly on the palate; dry overall.

Can bottom states "BEST BY 12/04/19". Tommyknocker beers never really grabbed me, but this one is mighty fine. It comes across well-balanced and nuanced, and drinks easily. Good IPA stuff...

Today has started out nicely, BAs. I dug one of my authentic Jeter jerseys out of a storage bin, only to find that it had beer stains from about 10 years ago. I only wore it once. That said, pre-treated it, gave it good soak, followed by a wash and what do you f*cking know? The damn thing looks as new as the day it was purchased. Also found out that one of my favorite haunts is going to start carrying Surly, and Toppling Goliath. Life couldn't get better... no... Hunter, don't post that video again. But I must! Haha... LARRRGE.
