Epic Big Bad Baptist - Vanilla Brandy barrel. Release #3. This was incredible. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, brandy, vanilla, coconut, roasted nuts, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with light notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Mild herbal, grassy, roast, charred, coffee bitterness; and brandy/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; light slickness, sticky hop, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth/soft sipping. Mild increasing warmth of 12.1%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Fantastic balance of super rich malts, cocoa, fruity/nutty coffee, and brandy barrel presence/integration; with mild earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Another easy winner. Still not nearly as impressive as the Base, Multi-barreled, or Baptista as expected; but well worth picking up another for the price. 4.28
