Drinking this a couple hours early in honor of @TheIPAHunter and @miwestcoaster.
This 2016 Orval is pairing wonderfully with some smoked Gouda. I am enjoying the complexity of both with some of my all time favorite musicians from each of their respective fields of expertise.
I had to bump up my original 2016 review of this just now. This ish is off the chain this time through.
Cheers fam. This first one goes out to @TheIPAHunter. Approaching the three month mark so it’s a little old, but then again so is he.
Here’s something else they both have in common...
North Coast Old Raspy as good as ever ! - Cheers !
Happy Birthday @TheIPAHunter!!!
Last one for the night...I think.
I know. I had the extra hazy 2016 version instead of the clear version (if I recall the beers were different depending on where they were brewed) but this year's is awesome. This is my fourth 6-pack, I think.
Bearded Iris Homestyle. Got a new fireplace and entertainment center hooked up today too. I love black friday sales.
The stone fruit peach/nectarine/apricot and honey malt backbone are clutch, My next weekend buy (before I'm broke until next paycheck) are this beer.
FF Gods smiling on me tonight, unlike when I lost by .1 the other week. Great actual game as well. Hot tub time, my knees are hosed & my back isn't cool with all the attention they are getting.
Odell Myrcenary, the last one schlepped back from CO
Peace out LNBAers
A good night for my last of these...2018 Curmudgeon's Better Half...aged as gracefully as I could've hoped. Cheers, LNBAs!
Day 2 of the 25 beers of Christmas.
Seahawks and Ravens/Patriots in the SB!
Now it's Orange Whip and bedtime, hopefully my printer works in the morning or it's a 6 day weekend :/
Second beer of the advent and it’s delicious. I can see how it’s polarizing but I’m a fan. My dad used to have dark chocolate covered orange jelly sticks in our stockings, this takes be back. Waves of orange and coffee with a milk chocolate finish and bourbon and cinnamon kisses. No discernible green pepper notes like the ‘17 BCBCS. Reminds me a bit of Bamburana on the finish. Overall a winner in my book.

A couple of pretty spectacular brews this evening, including my first ever KJ. They say to not meet your heroes, and truthfully, I wasn't sure how KJ would stack up to the OH and Monkish bombs I've been lucky to have over the past year. But this hero didn't disappoint. The big Julius has probably my favorite nose ever on an IPA, and the rest is all there too. Now, to the hope of finding KJJJ at some point...
DDH Vicinity deserves an honorable mention as well. We've seen/heard about Trillium IPA's falling hard recently, but I'm hoping that this Vicinity is a sign of the old Trillium being back. Save for Headroom, this release is about as good as anything I've ever had from these guys.
Love love love!! Jealous too
Continuing my winter's evening. Some 3 Sheeps Veneration and Breaking Bad.
Some wonderful stuff here. Very nice caramel, lots of barrel, molasses, then more molasses bordering on grape sucker, prune/fig, brandy, cocoa, rye spiciness, banana, slight citrus, dark berry, and heavy rum and whiskey. 4.5 out of 5. Cheers!
Before it’s too late, I want to send a massive shoutout to the old man himself, @TheIPAHunter !! Happy Birthday you son of a gun. You’re pretty old now, but still not as old as @vabeerguy ‘s crotchety old ass!
Nightcap. Another for @TheIPAHunter. Canned 11/05 and delicious. Peace to my man @RaulMondesi, hope you are healing up quick. Cheers to the rest of my fellow LNBA’s.
Stumbled across this gem on Hulu. Based on the book by Joe Hill.
Doesn't matter, a Guild is a Guild - especially one made in the original shop. With 30 years of age it must sound pretty sweet.
