With year-end looming and lots of transactions to complete, I had to spend a few hours in the office today. It's time for a quick beer before we head out to see "Midway." Surly just started distributing in New Jersey, although I've received a number of its beers in BIFs. Though the name has changed to simply "Axeman," they're still using the old cans. It's a terrific West Coast IPA and I like being able to use my Surly pint glass properly for a change. Cheers!

Headed back out to pick up the Christmas tree in a bit. Told the wife WalMart has a perfectly good white one pre-wired with pink lights...yep...that worked out great...

I am finishing the rest of my Rum Barrel Aged Champurrado from last night, I was so hammered I didn't even post it in yesterday's WBAYDN. But there's about 6 oz left with my name on it, so down the hatch and she's tasting great!

 

I'm not home to look at the tag, but I believe it's a Lemon Cypress.

 

I agree with you. Got six pack when it first came out a couple weeks ago, my father-in-law and I killed it in under an hour.

 

I am saving the one of that beer that I received for Dark Lord Day.

 

It's really really tasty, for me I was expecting the huge cinnamon-cocoa-syrup bomb that regular BA Champurrado was, but this Rum variant comes across a little more bitter and less pastry-like. I was hoping for pastry so I was let down but only a tiny bit. It's a world-class act for sure!!

 

Wowsa, over time. Full credit to the Bears, they showed up to play. So did our D, I'm happy to say. On to pulling for the Bayou Bengals. Not sure how much mojo I I bring to the table there, but I am sure there are a few ladies working on that for them any how

If there was ever a beer I associated solely with you, it would be this one. You have a stranglehold on it.

 

Oskar Blues Hotbox. I was stunned to see that I've never had this before. I probably have but maybe in passing, like with a friend or on tap where I didn't care to review it at the time.

Anyways, I thought the store made a mistake putting it into the mix-a-six, until I flipped over the can at home and saw it was from July 2018, not '19 as I had originally thought. Whoops.




It panned out! Not sure how it tastes fresh, but this one has now become one of my favorite all-time porters. Fantastic base that I can taste crushed dark grains, slight charcoal, nutty malts, and then the coffee comes in with a fruity and vibrant wash and brings suggestions of hazelnut and honey. Great stuff, will buy again, have one more can left. 4.18 out of 5. Cheers!

Beer #5 was a required chug #biflife. Turned out to be this 11% monster:


With chug completed, I am now sipping on beer #6. A 2017, also from the chug sender @azuelke .

 

just picked up the 25th anniversary vinyl release. 25 years! Wtf happened?
