Flying dog irish coffee and lunch with the wife
Thanks! There is no hurry for me yet. But the situation is not wonderful. Even in an emergency situation (like a death in the family) it would take 14 days of quarantine before getting home.
But I think you are right that there are worse places to get stuck.
I was about to stay at least till next Friday and maybe the weekend to do some cross country skiing. Glad I did bring my ski's, because I probably will have much more time than intended. Work can be done via internet, so that is covered.
A pretty good local coffee stout by Austin Bros.
Good afternoon, advocates! Starting with this DIPA from Insurrection. Shout out Pittsburgh. Cheers!
Was saving this, but decided to crack open my bottle of Other Half's Bananaversary in the run up to St. Patrick's Day. With the Parade (yeah, that one) and most gatherings cancelled, I thought I would light what is likely the Last Fire of the season. To my BA friends, remember the 3 B's: Be Smart, Be Safe and Be Healthy. Sláinte!
More tasty with my bud.
Steel Hands Brewing Lager
Southern Prohibition Typical Tuesday American Pilsner
Light golden color with white cap and lacing.
A clean aroma of sweet malt and floral, spicy hops.
Taste of lightly caramel malt balanced by sharp, floral hops. I cannot identify these hops except to say they are bold and bright in a floral way. Simple flavors that work and finish dry. Interesting take on the Pilsner style being fuller and punchier than the usual European examples yet not brash. It comes across as simple, clean, uncluttered and unsubtle yet very enjoyable.
Medium full texture with a bit more carbonation than needed.
This brew is more Pilsner than AAL pretenders and should make a good food match.
At Twin Elephant Brewing Lil Shimmy Ye their most brewed beer and maybe their best. An excellent APA.
Elysian - Cyclops Barrel-aged Barleywine.. cheers!
King Jjjulius yesterday, Juice Machine today.

Reviewing the 2019 release no. 4 at 12.9% ABV
Opaque ebony body with a one-finger thick light tan head, lasting. Rich cocoa and buttery chocolate scent; caramel. Decadent flavor notes of milk chocolate and cocoa; fine note of booziness cutting through the sweetness. Heavy body; chewy; plenty of alcohol heat; sensuous, velvety residual sugars coat the palate.
Some brewery's excel at tasty, balanced yet mind-blowing dark beers. River North is one of those artisans. The beer delivers excellent depth and character and coats the palate with luscious, lasting goodness. Very, very fine stuff...
I made corned beef hash & eggs for breakfast this morning, using last night’s corned beef boil. Happy St Patty’s!
Vanished Valley Watershed IPA and Orange Creamsicle Nitro. Both fantastic. These guys were popular at the Boston area festivals and they just opened a new taproom in western MA. Good food and great bear.
Time for a brew... a much needed beer in trying times.
This can always makes me wish I was fly fishing. Cheers!
At Big Orange in Rogers. The wife is having the Lost Forty Hoppy New Years I and I am having a boozey chocolate milkshake while we await Truffle Garlic Fries
Time for a Sand City + Other Half collab. Cheers, advocates!
Open gate guiness over the moon milk stout. Other than too much carbonation this was very good
Too Friggin' Great? Perhaps. Enjoying it nonetheless. Yes, I used "nonetheless" in a sentence. Sláinte agus fanacht sláintiúil!
Maine Beer Co Woods & Waters. Interesting IPA..not amazing, but still tasty. Happy Sunday!
Day 2 of weekend without sports, guess I'll throw on some COD or Bioshock
Drekker Flarndip BBA Imperial Stout 10% ABV. Pours black with a 1+ finger light brown head that left no lacing. Nose is marshmallow, chocolate, and vanilla. Taste follows, plus roast malt, very light bourbon, moderately sweet, slightly bitter. Essentially a BBA s'mores beer, though no graham. Nose is much better than the taste. Excellent mouthfeel, overall a world-class pastry stout. Sure wish they'd can this in larger quantities.

I've got enough beer to get through the coronapocalypse, but wish I had more of this!
My green beer.
Just...an amazing lager. The wood accentuates the other characteristics of the style perfectly. My only day off, I’m gonna take full advantage. Prost!
Trying another beer from Insurrection. Lord knows I'm not the biggest fan of Sabro hops, but this one, mixed with Citra, plays the background very nicely. I love it. Shout out Pittsburgh.
Skiing was not terrible...but it is sloooopppy now. And the main lift went rescue mode, rope descents. I caught the shuttle and avoided the madness because I had a Space Dust at the bar and was not going up as it dudded out.
Now, safe and sound. Ashton VSG
And more COVID-19 tapper plans of SNPA
At Natural State Beer Company doing a flight. All German styles here
Hey, Bar mates!
I really enjoy the virtual camaraderie. Everyone is drinking well today.
Decided to step up the game:
Holy cow. Bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, thick and lasting barrel. This beer is absolutely wonderful.
Cheers to you all, BAs!
Enjoying this delicious "Quarintini" - with ginger, lemon and Emergen-c juice....haha
back from a nice sunny 50 degree doggie walk and visit to dog park - no one there, which was nice!
Settling in here ba. Mad Fat Business, ddh ipa, from Interboro/Barrier collabo. Drinkable and decent but once again nothing in that wow factor which seems to be the norm for most Interboro ipa's.
They need to fire the date guy/gal too. 2/25/20 I thinks,
