I was fortunate enough to find this today during a Whole Foods run. No, not at Whole Foods. One of the beer stores I like is close in proximity. I'm thankful. Cheers!

I have been researching how to duplicate Gojira's tone for the past hour or two. Looking forward to coverings something off TWoaF. It's been 4 years since their last album, and that is their usual gap lately, so we should get a new album within the year. https://www.metalcastle.net/gojiras...details-about-new-album-give-us-a-few-months/

Anderson Valley Cherry Gose. Excellent as usual. Nice head retention/spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with some wheat, cracker, white bread malts; light pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt, lactic acid, fruit tang, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, no pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing 4.2%. Not overly lactic or salty. Awesome balanced juicy/jammy cherries, Lacto complexity; and solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Very impressive all around. All of the variants are pretty close in rating. Need to keep the series in the rotation more often.

I poured this beer and was getting ready to take it outside for a pool picture when the skies opened up. If I waited 10 minutes the storm will have passed, but I didn't wait.
Still plenty of these at my local store.

Possibly some painting this weekend; I got mildly inspired this afternoon, but translating it would be a heck of a challenge.

Vanderghinste Flanders Sour Ale. Oude Bruin. 5.5% ABV.

Found an amazing spot for imports. They keep them in dark cubby holes too. Last one they had of these I just noticed the production date is 09- 2017

This is beautiful. Only one for me today.
    Cheers.

This two year old brewery had this Belgian Golden Ale and a strong dark Belgian in its original lineup. Duvel and DT have nothing to fear, but both beers are quite tasty. More Belgians, Hazelwood!

So it turns out this is pretty delicious and I kind of feel bad for talking trash about smoothie beers yesterday. I doubt I could drink more than two but this is straight up juice with a nice pulpiness to it. All the NY breweries do the style better but for something I can find locally this is a winner.

Having another Heady. There is literally no other IPA in the world that tastes like this one. It has stood the test of time. This beer is probably the clearest 100 or 5 out of 5 that I've ever given. I would, and never will, change my score. Peace.

I think beats can make average emcees palatable. Let's not forget that there's only one Nas.

We’re near your last weekend to get your shit together for Books & Brews, island-style. If you feel safe enough, get out and find your all-time favorite beers and books to share with us Saturday, June 20th.

I was out today and very happy to find more of these, as well as to pick up a book that might be featured in two Saturdays.

The head is more massive, lasting, thick and sculpted. The aroma remains much the same. The taste is a huge improvement - more mellowed and balanced; still retaining a mild grainy taste while the alcohol harshness and harsh phenolic elements have nearly disappeared. The mouthfeel remains the same.

A fine improvement with a bit of aging...

Yellow-orange body; lively, coarse carbonation; decent white head, thick and soapy. Outstanding citrus edge to the smell; orange and lemon. Rather mellow taste; light biscuit; pine resin; a bit of harsh alcohol presence; phenolic. Medium-heavy body; lightly syrupy; boozy heat; fairly dry overall.

I didn't find any dating information on the can, so who knows when this one was packaged. The initial impression based on looks and smell is very promising, but the taste nearly reeks of harsh alcohol and other phenolic elements that, in this case, aren't overly appealing. Oh, well...

For sure an amazing beat can make any emcee tolerance, especially if the person making that beat is Premier. It is indisputable there is only one Nas. I grew up on NY hiphop so lots of Nas (Illmatic and it was Written), Mobb Deep (Infamous, Hell on Earth), Norega, Pun, and that type of thing. Nas has always been my #1 and I have wasted to many hours of my life explaining to dozens of people why he is a better emcee than Jay-Z could ever wish to be despite how much money they made. It has always bugged me Jay-Z claimed "best rapper alive" when Nas is right around the corner.
