Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there. Hope it’s a great day for you guys. Here’s a nice Maibock that’s been barrel aged in Chardonnay barrels from Albright Grove brewery in Knoxville TN. Probably the best Maibock I’ve ever had. [IMG]

I gave my own dad a ring right before that last beer review. He hasn't shaved since the lockdown so he's got a beard going, he hasn't worn one in a good few decades(I was around 5). He is a supervisor over a networks communications department at First Energy.

Stella Artois Midnight Lager. Very nice schwarzbier. Lasting fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread/crust, toasted biscuit, and nutty malts; with lighter notes of dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, wood, grass, pepper, and earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy/bready malts, some sticky hops, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Very clean on lager flavors, not overly fruity/yeasty. Great clean and nicely rich malt complexity, with balancing earthy hops and mild fruity yeast. Mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Very well done. 3.91

Roasty and carmely notes, perhaps a hint of peat, then a surprisingly bitter finish from the hops. Probably much more bitter than an actual Scottish version would be. We Americans love our hops. At 8%, I can already feel my kilt being lifted, lol.

    Russian River -- Velvet Glow

    4.36/5 rDev +9.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Clear, pale yellow body; beautiful carbonation; thick and fluffy white head. Classic German helles aroma; light breadiness with a gentle, fruity aroma. The taste mirrors the smell; biscuit-like; mildly herbal with a fantastically balanced hop bitterness; a bit of honey and musk melon. Light body; soft and pillowy; gentle sweetness initially, finishes with a mild dryness.

There is nothing like finding another tasty and well-made beer from one of your favorite breweries. Russian River did an excellent job creating balance, depth, and complexity with this beer.

This third pour is incredible, thank you Wisconsin peeps for posting throughout the past few weeks. This has the fullest body of any CW stout I've had to date, very nice complex flavors, balanced, one of the best Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts I've had.

Full review in NBS. I can only dream of a time when all three of my favorite Wisconsin breweries are open for on-site drinking (3 Sheeps the only one open, Central Waters limited to outdoors only, New Glarus closed likely into next year). Til then cheers!

I feel like cleaning one of these downstairs bathrooms. Random. I get energized when I'm being fed good IPA. I'm like a gremlin. Also, the other night I dreamed that I was in a battle rap scenario against Steph Curry. Why him, of all people? Dame Lillard would have made more sense. At least he knows how to rap. Either way, it was easy work. Cheers, brethren!!!

Good evening, all! Picked up this Enjoy By 07.04.20 this evening after a long day of driving. I have to say, this one is pushing all the buttons. Incredibly well balanced, and I'm really liking the strong malt character. Caramelly and a little sweet without overpowering the beautiful hop aromas and flavors. There's also some alcohol in here, but not so's you'd notice. Pairing with Southern Recipe Small Batch Pork Rinds, sea salt & cracked black pepper flavor. Because they're awesome, that's why. Cheers!

Having Feather Edge - very good NEIPA. My daughter is an excellent pianist and she totally surprised me today with a song she wrote about me called Stargazer. When she was growing up, I was big into astronomy and was a member of the local Aldrich Astronomy club. I had a 12 inch Dobsonian telescope and we spent a ton of time looking at the night skies - hence the name she gave the song. Wow, just unbelievably touching for me, brings a tear to my eye.

    I'll share her lyrics here:

    Stargazer

Gratitude as deep as the sea
Long as the list of things he taught to me

Nature’s beauty, the mystery of the stars
The magical places where his thoughts are

    Wisdom grows year after year
    He’s a well-read mind and a musical ear

Inner world that never stops moving
Inner soundtrack that never stops grooving

He’s a liberal heart and an untamed soul
A creative mind and a student of the cosmos
A curious nature, spirit wild and free
And I’m the lucky one cause he gave it all to me

    Earth traveler, world wanderer
A stargazer and an amateur astronomer

A free thinker, a peace seeker
He’d like to see more love in this world cause

He’s a liberal heart and an untamed soul
A creative mind and a student of the cosmos
A curious nature, spirit wild and free
And I’m the lucky one cause he gave it all to me

    God, I love her!!
