I think that’s the orangest color barleywine I’ve ever seen.

Prairie BA Peanut Butter Bomb! Imperial Stout, 14.4% ABV. Pours black with a 1+ finger light brown head that left residue instead of lacing. That's a lot of head for a Prairie stout. Nose is slight peanuts. Taste is coffee, peppers, peanut butter, some bourbon, licorice, moderately bitter. Disappointed with only a moderate peanut presence. Decent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Nose improved with warming.

Really great late summer/early fall day to go to the zoo with our daughter and grandkids. Glad I only bought two of these instead of loading up, had hoped for more. Still decent, but much prefer BBA and RBA Bomb.

No October leaves to rake yet around here, but there’s plenty of tasty October beers to drink...

Man, Great Lakes really blows most of the time. This literally hit stores this week and tastes like stale, sweet cardboard. Surprise surprise. Not!

I'm drinking a new hazy IPA from Fremont called Space Rex

I am taking exception because the tyrannosaur's space suit is deeply flawed. Although the contents of the can remind me quite a bit of Lush, which I love.

Not much head because I poured it and then got distracted watching the new Bond trailer.

Nice. You started with one of the better ones by them, if not their best. So I figure I’d join you. Well, you’ve likely moved on, so I’ll follow you, including a move to outside.

    Tastes like eucalyptus and lemon.

Wait, that might be the bug spray. Fuckers got me 3 times before I applied an ample dosage.

Ugh. I wanted to try that one, but when it comes to older breweries that I'm a fan of like Great Lakes I'd rather have their classic brews instead of them trying to be trendy. Guess I might try it if I can get a single, but I won't buy a 4 or 6 pack (since I don't know what it comes in).

Wormtown Don't Worry can labeled PKGD: 7/22/20

Poured into my tulip glass this beer is an opaque lemon custard yellow with a creamy ecru head. Decent staying power and some fluffy lace

Scent is tropical fruits, pine, floral.

Taste is muddled tropical fruit - nothing stands out in particular - with a touch of pine resin. Grapefruit. Lemon. Bitter astringent finish.

Mouth is slick but not creamy or juicy.

Hell of an IPA for only 5.8% ABV. Does seem somewhere in between NE IPA and West Coast style IPA. The tropical fruit notes say NE but the grapefruit and pine and the bitterness in the finish tell me West Coast. The mouthfeel is somewhere between the two. Either way I'm not going to worry. I'll just enjoy the beer.

Review #1,000! Prairie Pirate Paradise Imperial Stout, 13% ABV. Pours black with a ring of brown bubbles, typical for a Prairie stout. Nose is rum, coconut, and chocolate. Taste follows, plus coffee, with moderate bitterness. Decent mouthfeel, if slightly under-carbonated, overall world-class.

I have a thing for Rum Barrel-aged beers, so this slightly edges out BBA Paradise for my favorite Prairie beer.
