I had to drive my dog to a vet appointment 3 hours away yesterday for his stem cell treatment. After that I decided to blow off work and take it easy. I started my day with a 2017 Parabola and have moved on to a 2015 Abyss.Going to just lose myself in some Van Halen Lps.

Still at Wicked Weed. Eating fries and drinking “Napoleon Complex”, a hoppy pale ale:

Poundable, but I’m just drinking 1/2 pours. Beautiful day here, sunny and cool. Cheers!

    Beercation Day#5 Brewery#9 - Bhramari Brewing’s “Molly’s Lips”, a Black Gose with orange blossoms:

Plenty of orange blossom. Little to no sour or salt. I would never have guessed this beer is a Gose...not for me...

Brewery #10...now at the Funkatorium drinking a La Bonet Pear, a Brett farmhouse ale with pears:

Dry sour pears. Plenty of funk. Crisp and drying. Slight acidity. Really pretty afternoon to sit outside and drink beers. Cheers!

Black is Beautiful from Trillium with Papua New Guinea Vanilla beans. 10.7 abv. In a completely inappropriate glass btw, I was looking at maybe 30 appropriate ones and thought the open chalice would accentuate the nose, and add more air, Ive got a bad sniffer.
Pour is jet black, no head what do ever after a minute or two. A coffee bomb, I don’t get any vanilla, a tad bitter on the finish, with plums. Nice sipping beer, long lasting finish, the after is the dark fruit, raisins, plums.

Getting ready to prep dinner, Boneless pork ribs, with pork stuffing and gravy, homemade green beans done with some dried ham hocks. Biscuits. I love drinking and cooking.
    Nice beer @WunderLlama.

Funny funny. I was in Papua New Guinea decades ago and I drank a Swan lager in Port Moresby before heading into the wonderfully unsafe highlands. Also went to a German pub (Club Germania) that served Becks. Awful stuff. Full of preservatives for the long haul from Germany to PNG. Had a huge headache from it. Fresh beer is not common in such places.

A good Kölsch is from Köln and like with other German named beers here in the USA, they don't come close to the real thing. When you drink a Kölsch at the actual brewery in Köln (neophytes call it Cologne) it comes in such small glasses I always had to order FIVE at once by holding up my entire hand to the waiter. Don't know what it is like today, since every brewery seems to become international in ownership and things get changed..often not for the better.

Finally received my Collective Arts Origin Of Darkness collab delivery today. Four different beers and I bought six of each. Will sample one of each over the next couple of days and try to space the rest out over the winter, mixing them in with the other heavier stuff I will be pulling out over the next few months.

Starting out with the Pohjala collab. It's a Baltic Porter with plums that is aged in Cognac barrels. 9.6% ABV. Minimal head and lacing, obvious Cognac on the nose but less in the taste and very drinkable considering the ABV. Mouth feel is a shade thin for my personal preferences with this style but outstanding overall. Cheers.

Koru #2 of the afternoon.. I've never seen a can that says "Purchase cold, Trade Cold, Keep Cold"

Apparently they just expect the cans are going to be traded?

On a side note I am glad that my distributor uses full cold-chain distribution. Supposedly the beer is kept cold for its entire lifetime. I've watched them unload trucks and it is definitely chilly in there but I am sure there are probably a store or two who don't care and just throw this on the shelf
