I’m so sorry. My deepest condolences. I can relate, as I lost my Dad back in April to Covid complications as well. If you ever want to talk to someone that has been through something similar, I’m only a message away. Cheers to you and your Dad.

DD214 in both our hands. I actually received mine before I retired but my wife only got hers a couple weeks ago. Since we live ~2hrs away from the closet DEERS office, we waited until she got all her paperwork in order.

    Schneider Weisse G. Schneider & Sohn -- Tap X Eisbock Barrique (2017)

    3.46/5 rDev -10.6%
    look: 3.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Dirty, muddy brown appearance; absolutely no head. Faint smell; veggie-like and spicy; rye. Sour taste; earthy; sorghum and rye. Heavy body; soft and velvety; tart juiciness.

Well, I suppose the brewery more or less hit the mark for what they were after. I certainly get the idea of berries, cherries and pinot noir, and the mouthfeel definitely has the body of a good wheat beer, but taste-wise...I give this beer a higher than the sum of its parts ratings only because the beer's character apparently goes for what the brewer was after. It definitely shoots for a niche market...

    The 2017 version...

...I suppose they're mainly 'big box' - Lowes, iHop, Ace Hardware, I'm sure many of the hotels and motels, but the blue card does have some national pull still, so that's still a bonus for us vets...

Got some annoying news today. A guy at one of my go to beer stores said we aren't getting any Mackinac Fudge KBS :poop: He is pretty on the ball so I believe him. I did get a single can of Bell's Juicy Gossip ( wasn't supposed to be in the singles selection, but they sold it to me any way). The beer Gods giveth & taketh away Pale Ale. I suppose. Drinking it now

Decided to pull out the stein-sized Paulaner Oktoberfest (Wiesn) that had been languishing in my fridge for 2 months. I greatly prefer märzens for the style but always can appreciate one of these every now and again.

Equilibrium dHop27 DIPA (Simcoe/Galaxy). That’s some legit haze. I’ve had some great stuff and some okay stuff by these guys in the past. I’ve heard they’ve been pretty inconsistent this year, so that makes sense. This one definitely falls into the great category. Complex tropical and citrus juice with a layer of pine and earth bitterness over it all. Super soft and creamy. This one extracts all the goodness that Galaxy and Simcoe have to offer.
