At home now, watching the Huskies vs Utah and drinking a Batch 1 from Lumberbeard.
Good to know!
Okay, so as advertised, there was sushi...
Crunchy spicy tuna inside; outside has black pepper tuna and avocado, scallion, caviar...
I drank the Flower Power Pineapple mostly before and after, not so much with...
I wasn't sure if I'd save my BCBS for side-by-side comparison with the KBS Maple Fudge, CBS, and Better Half - I didn't realize I was buying a maple bourbon coffee stout at the time - I only saw that it said coffee...
Remember when BCBS coffee and vanilla variants came out like every other year (almost)? I got a great sense of anxiety about not being able to get them lol... There was always a bottle limit/prerequisite... My earliest convenient photo is from 2013...
In 2012, I got the coffee, 2011, the vanilla, and in 2010, I first-sampled the original... 'Course, all o' this was back before Goose Island was bought by Anheuser-Busch, and before the change to the 16 oz. bottles with new labeling format (which doesn't appeal to me)...
Anyways, cases are behind the counter at Total Wine (last year the overstock ended up on the sales floor) - and there's probably some sort of purchase limit, but all I wanted was one, so I went with the one with coffee on the label - my other choices were a tea version and something called caramella... I don't know - this is good and all, but at $23.99 it needs to exceed the competition - but it is basically just on par - not the best on the market, if it ever was, though worthy of a buy if you're unfamiliar! lol *never let me deter you from buying beer* It's making me want to open the KBS and CBS right now for a comparison, but that's too big a commitment... *tomorrow*
Ok, so officially, this is Bourbon County Brand Special #4 Stout...
Features bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup and Intelligentsia coffee... The coffee is syruped by the maple the same way the maple gets bourboned by the barrels... Has molasses and a hint of chicory... Medium-weight and sticky; a sweet, luxury stout - a little bitter char at the end, but nothing that dries it out...
This is basically just new Mastodon and Kveletak to me...
Great cover of a Priest classic...
Singer in no way tries to compete with Halford, instead demonstrates his own skill set; instrumentation displays the excellence of the original composition...
Purple cover is also solid...
More Founders BAIS...it’s heavy without being over the top viscous, dark cocoa without being gritty or dry, sweet without being sugary...really nice on the second pour from the bomber.
Take Founders Fudgiosity, the great new fudge bomb from the Mighty Kosmicki. Great beer, I love it. I cannot imagine aging it and diminishing the already subtle bourbon flavor. Drink it now!
Yup, yellow lab. Great family dogs, I also have a 10 year old....we wanted some continuity as he slows down
I really didn’t want to crack one of these now but this is my only real chance until a week from now so fuck it. Maple is strong. I don’t get much coffee (or barrel) until the finish. Pretty smooth. I think a little more time will improve this, it’s kinda all over the place and not in a symbiotic way. One and done so see y’all on the flip flop.
It has been quite a day!
Awesome logo art.
Real Ale: Lost Gold
I’ve been reading a lot of “meh” on this variant...good to know. Not as if there are any more of any adjuncts around here, so I might just drink all mine on this extended weekend and not worry about any more chasing.
Trying out a boulevard deep flux. Heat. Lots of face melting heat. Fuck this, calling an audible and going with perennial coffee stout instead. Deep flux tastes like a headache maker.
I love this beer! I love this song!
I literally wish they’d just go back to barleywine and coffee and call it a day. Make the prop one (like vanilla rye or cherry rye or bramble, etc like they used to) and regular. All this other shit is unnecessary and not as good.
Verdict in, this 2020 BCBS is better than it has been in years. But price-wise I will most likely pass getting up at o dark thirty on black Friday in the future for it .
This beer in my hands is like a lightsaber or two in the hands of Ahsoka Tano!
Chasing Shadows by Timber Ales x Folksbier. Cheers!
This is fantastic beer & very hot tub worthy beer, so that's where I am headed. Stonecloud Strawberry Beers For Trevor IPA
The Bourbon County I was looking forward to today. Local place on the way home from work still had three variants last night.
VERY good as expected!
A bit more "figgy" and "sweet" compared to years' past. I am also getting notes of fruitcake, of all things. Absolutely tear into this one, it's worth it as always
St. Bernardus: Tripel
Happy birthday !! Enjoy !!
Hopefully she will be comfortable throughout the process that is the goal. My thoughts are with you all !!
Hopefully it has or was easy for him !
To me entering hospice means acceptance that my condition will not improve and it it is a matter of time until I am done. I jus want to be comfortable and not too much of a PITA to those I love. And of course enjoy some whiskey and beer along the way
Had a nice 2nd Thanksgiving at the in-laws this evening. Back home now and getting into the rest of my pFriem BSDA crowler. Had transferred the remainder to an empty 22oz I had, then popped my vacu-vin on it. Didn't hold up quite as well as I was hoping, but it was worth a shot..
My wife has listened to this band quite a bit over the years. Always forget how catchy their stuff is..
always glad to see this done right. prowler in the yard is a brutal akbum. love it.
Now some of this:
I'm drinking Lush from Fremont
Just had dinner with some friends whose only daughter is in our daughter's grade. He's a drag racin' garage beer kind of guy, but apparently I've ruined him with Bodhizafa and Lush -- he just can't bother with Miller Lite any more, even though he thought of himself as anti-IPA until I got to him. Now he's experimenting with IPAs and barrel aged stouts. And has also ruined another friend against BMC. That feels nice, I guess, although I also feel like I added needless complexity to their lives...
And I think this is hilarious -- horseplay with my seven year old boy, he managed to drop a knee on my forehead. Hurt like hell, and probably will be visible for Zoom meetings on Monday.
This Lush is probably my last beer tonight, although I'll be browsing the forums while I drink it.

Haymarket Beer Company's Oscar's Pardon, a well crafted Belgian Pale Ale full of flavor despite the low ABV (4.5%).
Cheers Late Night BAs!
Glad you enjoyed this one! Hope your brother did too!!
