I didn’t order rice, damn it. I ordered gumbo!
The Mind Control I had earlier for New Beer Weekend was so good, I decided to have another this evening.
First time with FML, #7 of 12 in the variety pack.
Good stuff...big at 8.5% but easy.
I just saw this one on the TV. Noice...
Living the High Life and having a Sharknado marathon.
Now I have to make some gumbo tomorrow, there's no resisting the need to do so!!!
Probably a very bad idea after drinking the Special #4.
Time to be stupid!
Damn! I always forget how great this is.
First 450N. Amazing as expected. Thanks @mfreund72
Never saw that down in Louisiana or Mississippi, ever.
Time to crack this Goose Island 2020 BCBS. There might still some out on the shelves out there still. Time to see if this worth damn near a buck an ounce
Yep, that's me and the beer I drink.. Cheers!
My supermarket still has 2019 on the shelves, the BCBS ship sailed a long time ago
Happy Birthday @TargaFlorio
I refuse to give in to beer pressure - I have two 2019 Bourbon County stouts in the wings, but instead I will have this brew.
Enjoying these TG leftovers ..
I am mostly interest in the variants, but but I always pick up a bottle or 2. There is either too much competition out there or it has lost its fastball for me. I will say to me it doesn't seem as good as I remember 5 years ago. I am hoping for a different result this year, but not super hopeful. The barrel seems AWOL to me
2017, Thanks @basaywhat
Russian River -- STS (pils)
...tried to watch a movie with Mrs. BeerGoot entitled 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'...it was an absolute dud and snoozer...even Mrs. BG was asleep for a bit...other than the Bruce Lee / Brad Pitt fight scene (hillarious), I could see no point to the movie...even as vignettes, this sucked and was boring...and I generally love Quenten Tarantino movies, but a dog is a dog...
How's it tasting?
Helles Lager Old Nation Brewing Co.
I smell the bourbon but tastes really smooth, I love a good BA. Thanks again!
Never heard of that. Good to know. Glad I'm still on Fall.
Recycled pic, Now! beer.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Jackie O’s distro’s to Greece but not Upstate NY? Greece, yes. NY, no.
Hard pass on BCBS variants for the second year in a row, I can tell none of them are really my thing. Have also been wary of buying this beer's variants for well-known reasons, but I like pecans as an addition to BA stouts. This is certainly no w00tstout, but it is good
Another trade score from @Blutz 2020 Founders BAIS!
Similar nose to the 2019, but much more vanilla in the flavor and a thicker, creamier mouthfeel.
Excellent beers...fortunate to have a good trade for these Michigan-only winners!
Oh, I don’t know, so I guess I’m googling what’s up with their variants! East Coast, so Epic is a ghost.
This one's grown on me between can #1 and #2.
Big Bad Baptist variants have a well-deserved reputation for 1. Being infected or 2. Aging like absolute shit.
I would absolutely never buy a BBB variant older than like 6 months old, I promise you I have been burned multiple times. The regular BBB is always good though.
My first of the 2020’s is a Special #4. Impressive right out of the gate. The oatmeal base and coffee really make the beer. Subtle maple sweetness and bourbon finish it off. Really good, I will be searching for a few more. Cheers
One of my favorite PF songs. “It’s too late to lose the weight you used to throw around.” What a great album.
I gave up aging beer. I prefer the bourbon burn from a fresh KBS, Bourbon County or other barrel aged beer. Fading doesn’t enhance it for me. To each his own. Your mileage may vary.
Amen. Especially beers that are already barrel aged. But really it depends on the adjuncts. By far my favorite stout adjunct are chili peppers, which do not hold up over time. If we're talking coffee, maple, or '18 vanilla BCBS then yeah age will probably help mellow those strong flavors out.
When I went to Watertown, SD a bit more than a month ago, I bought the last bottle of the 2019 regular there that HyVee Liquor had. I've got a feeling I'll be getting 2020 there on my trips to hottie land in 2021 - even if I've still got 5 bottles left from my purchases the past few days.
