I had a girlfriend who was obsessed with Boxer when it first came out, and I just couldn't find my way into it back then. Have you seen the folklore documentary on Disney+? That guitarist comes off like a really interesting musician and person.

Yeah, met the Dessner brothers here in the Springs, when one of their spouses had a gig on my campus for a bit. He put on an interesting "contemporary classical" concert, too, which isn't my fave genre, but it was cool to meet them. I tried to not hyperventilate over meeting them.
    Haven't seen the documentary (don't have Disney+)

Screw it, all this talk about The National decided it.
TRVE Lower Saison. 2.8% - won't kill me.

I have now added thirty five pounds to my bench press since the beginning of November. I’m not a kid anymore so am pretty happy with that and will be curious to see how it translates to the golf course come spring.

Starting off my beer day with a great DIPA from Omnipollo.

A great older Canadian song from A Foot In Coldwater. Love this song. Also throwing in a non-Canadian song from The Airborne Toxic Event, who I was listening to while lifting weights. I love this band. Very bombastic, but it works for me. Cheers.

So far it's about 4". Hopefully more. If it's going to be winter, I want snow. Enough to X/C ski.
    :beers:

35 is a good jump. Have you been training with a partner who's stronger than you? That was always my goal when lifting in tandem. I wanted my spotter to be incrementally stronger. Cheers!

I just finished watching the Knicks game. Nice win. I like to see young players (RJ Barrett) perform well. Having another Two Hearted while I contemplate all this talk about The National. I may have to give them a few spins for my own education. Peace...

No, training solo in the basement as no gyms are open and we are under a stay at home order, so no visits or visitors. I used to run marathons, so the ability to self motivate has always been there. I used to play squash regularly and always wanted an opponent who was slightly better. It got the best out of me. Cheers.

Yes, what am I thinking? Blame the beer. I suppose it's hard to have a trainer or workout partner during COVID. Damn, please give me a pass.

Cheers all! Happy MLK Day! Right now I'm drinking a Black Is Beautiful stout collab from Trillium & White Lion Brewing. Really complex and nice, fresh vanilla bean icing taste, some rum barrel, dark toasted malts, rich chocolate, coffee, dark fruit like plum, blackberry, brown sugar, molasses, good stuff.

I’m a big The National fan and Alligator, Boxer and High Violet are three successive albums most bands would be very happy to have in their catalogue. Each has songs that make it difficult for me to pick a favorite of the three. I turned a buddy onto these guys with Bloodbuzz Ohio. The newer stuff has not worked as well for me either. One of the few bands I want to see live but haven’t. Them and Sigur Ros would be the top two. Cheers.

@Insomniac I also really enjoy the earlier demo version of that Airborne Toxic Event song. More orchestral leaning, less guitar.

I’m scaling up ingredients for a pie crust, I’ve been tasked with making a turkey pot pie for dinner

I haven’t had a Daisy Cutter in a while, crisp, floral and clean tasting, a good change of pace from the NEIPAs I alway seem to drink.

Yeah, they have alternate take videos for quite a few of their songs and I do really like them. I saw them perform Sometime Around Midnight on Letterman and was hooked.
