Happy Valentine's Day, BAs. True story. For the first time in 36 years of marriage Mrs. Mac and I bought the same valentine card for the other. That's either really romantic or just plain scary!

This collaboration between District 96 Beer Factory and Tin Barn Brewing was released yesterday and it's absolutely amazing! Lemon, peach, passion fruit, pine, and D96's signature snake fruit. And I've never had a 10% TIPA drink this easily. Masterful! I just reviewed it on the NBW thread. Cheers, everyone!

Well, it's still cold, and in the spirit of the long weekend, I decided to crack another.

This evening the wife and I are hitting a local brewery that just reopened their taproom.
Splitting this saison with the Mrs, which is from another local brewery, while I wait for said Mrs to get ready.

For whatever reason, I didn't enjoy the first one. Got about half way thru and introduced the rest to my drain. Hop die off I suppose, so let's try this Pipeworks now. Killing off some lingering singles is such a chore haha...

Preparing dinner for my partner: top sirloin (my own seasoning blend), baked potatoes, and my first attempt at a homemade "Bloomin' onion," with a Valentine's Day beer while we wait. First, the steak just waiting for their turn:

Then, the first (very careful! pour):

Seriously; that was a slow, careful pour. Second pour:

The appearance is the overall improvement this go-around. So an uptick for that quality plus another for the overall.

I believe the initial review was based upon my review while at the brewery whereas this one is taken from a bottle.

It's been my experience that beers from the tap many times lack great visual appeal, especially with the head. But this sample greatly improves upon my initial take on the beer. I stand by my original impressions with the other elements of the beer's qualities.
    -----------
Pale yellow body; initial thick head but it quickly dissipates to a thin yet sticky shadow of itself. Gentle fruity and floral aroma. Delicate flavors of light cereal grains; crackers; light yet proportional hop bitterness; very clean taste. Medium-light body; crisp and delicate on the palate; mostly dry finish.

This beer is another fine lager offering from Wooly Pig, subtle yet flavorful and quite easy to drink.
    ---------
...I'm listening to a fantastically beautiful piano trio recording, written by John Zorn and recorded by Rob Burger, Greg Cohen, and Ben Perowsky -- Alhambra - Love Songs...no video available from what I can find, but the ending scene from the movie "War Party" just happened to be showing, and the fire in the fireplace merrily burns to stave off the outside 0° F temperature (although the sun is shining brightly)...

Nice Golden , light and refreshing IIPA from Vermont . Never saw anything from Zero Gravity in the past, so I figured I’d give it a go

CHEERS !! Happy Valentines Day

Funny back story from my past regarding this Madonna Song - I ran a large sports memorabilia , cards, comic store in a mall and this massive dude that was my right hand man, would do the funniest rendition of this song every time it came over the sound system . Those were some good times and that was my last job collecting a check from anybody .
About 5 years ago I ran into that guy at a Crew meet in Philly and we realized our sons rowed for the same HS Crew team . His son graduated that year and my son was a freshman , but at the year end banquet , they ended up on stage together as they both won awards -
    GOOD TIMES !!!

Mrs. Insomniac and I just had some crackers and bread with antipasto as a Valentine’s Day snack. Dinner in an hour or so.

Moving on with beer number three and second from Great Lakes in Toronto. This is Robohop, an 8.5% NE DIPA. This one is really outstanding. Ignore the glass of Sterling Cab Sauv in the picture. I have no idea who that belongs to. Cheers. [IMG]

Cool story, on the baseball card part, my nephew is now obsessed with them. He has all my old ones, and my brother in law's friend has now opened a store in their town. I think they are the only two keeping that place open ha. No judgement from me, as I'm probably the only one keeping a few record stores open

I would describe this beer as a hybrid blend of a black lager/stout/belgian beer. Flavor I'm getting consists mainly of dark fruits!! Thanks to @zeile33 for the assist on this one!!
