Drekker Blueberry/Banana BRAAAAAAAAins Double Fruit Smoothie Sour, 7.8% ABV. Pours murky and thick maroon, with a ring of pink bubbles. Nose is blueberry and banana, taste follows with blueberry up front, then banana and vanilla, moderately sweet, slightly tart, with salt in the aftertaste. Excellent thick and smooth mouthfeel, overall world-class. I wasn't sure how the blueberry and banana would play together, and it turned out they complement each-other nicely.

I hear ya and understand. Worked 40 years as a boring accountant. I did not hate it but never got much satisfaction from it. Definitely paid the bills and then some. A wife, two kids, and a big mortgage I thought I had no choice.

Irony is both daughters are CPAs and love it.

I had it in my hand and almost bit the bullet today on a 4 pack of Other Half for $22.99 plus tax in honor of you my friend -
Next week I’m grabbing it as it sounded delicious -
It was an Oat Cream Imperial - not sure of name, but balloons on the can -

if I had known they were given me a discount today it would have been coming home :slight_frown:

The beer manager at work (former member of this site) was able to get a can of that about a month ago, and it was damn good. So happy he gave me a chance to try it.
He has his connections and I have mine.

    Cheers Advocates!

After a few hours doing yardwork in some high 80s and sun this is refreshing and a bit more full bodied than I remember. Funny, I think I had a 6'er of this yet failed to review it. So the review will be written tonight, so I do not forget.

Like today when I was looking to try a beer like @BrewsOverHoes frequent fave Tropicalia. Since we don't have that here, one that is supposed to have some of the tropical notes is Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion. So I put that on my shopping list, but when I went to BA to confirm notes folks found, I saw MY OWN review. Duh! Anyway that will be my second beer tonight.

Grabbed a few sixers today! I have to keep that stocked. Honestly I need to get one of those “Break Glass Incase of Emergency” things on the wall with a can in it.

Holla at me one day and I’ll send a 6 pack out to you!

West coast Falcon Smash. An IPA brewed by Triple Crossing. Falcon Smash is their flagship beer. I am not a big fan although I will drink them if in front of me.

So why Mike did you buy a four pack of this beer? Did you think that West Coast would add something? To be honest, I put in an order for this and others after just three hours sleep. I thought it was West Coast Clever Girl which I have had and really like. Lesson learned. Read the whole thing and not just parts of it.

I think you are right on point. Pulling weeds, edging and sweeping were a lot harder in 87 degree heat, although, I am not in the best shape. Drank at least 2 qts of water so far and now will grab another while I am at it.

About 20 miles away a big storm with hail and rope tornado is heading toward Greeley has the local news in weather alert mode. They preempted the network newscasts and are still on it. It's no wonder my car insurance is so high, HAIL!

Hair of The Dog Brewing Co. / Brewery and Tasting Room -- Adam From The Wood 2018 Bourbon (old ale)

    4.4/5 rDev -2.2%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Revisited with the 2018 bourbon barrel Adam June 07th, 2021

Murky, dark brown body; no head. Big earthy aroma of oak with a twinge of bourbon; cocoa. Richly sweet taste oozing with cocoa, molasses, and muted whiskey. Heavy body; slick and oily; slippery; bold residual sugars coat the palate; sweet mouthfeel overall offset with a low-key boozy warmth.

I find this version of Adam to be very similar to the 2015 rye version. Perhaps because I'm a bourbon man, the taste really appeals to me a tad more. Regardless, this is one beautiful monster of a beer.

    Poured at 55° F.

    --------------------

    Original review ratings for rye 2015 version: 4.0 4.0 4.5 4.5 4.25

    Originally reviewed June 06th, 2021

Dark, murky brown body; initially no head then a thin wispy ring circles the glass. Rich smell; dark pitted fruit, anise and leather; mild earthy spiciness. Outstanding taste; like a rich port; cocoa and plum plus raisin with a subdued booziness. Heavy body; slick and oily; coats the palate with a slippery sweetness.

The old bugaboo with high ABV beers having little head retention exist here; but then, it's nearly six years old. Otherwise, the taste and mouthfeel are exceptional for the style. The beer is rich and complex overall. Late note: I see on the bourbon bottle that Adam is produced with no carbonation, so I bumped up the appearance score from 3.5 to 4.0 and upped the overall to 4.25.

Served at 54° F; rye bourbon barrel version (2015)
