Well I’m assuming it was Untitled Art/Octopi. It says brewed in Waunakee, WI on the can (which is where Untitled Art is located). From what I understand, Octopi is a production facility that brews other brewery’s beers. Untitled Art are the same people that run Octopi as far as I know.
And yes, I agree. Untitled Art’s smoothies are really good. Pretty much everything they make is solid imho.

903 Brewers -- Chupacabra Batch 3 (flavored American imperial stout)

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Ink black body; thin, wispy khaki head primarily forming a collar around the inside of the glass. Intense roasted and earthy grain aroma; wood char; peanut butter; vanilla. The taste amplifies the smell plus adds a bit a whiskey booziness to the mix; char bitterness; dark spice presence like cinnamon. Heavy body; sludgy; slow-burn alcohol warmth intensity; dark sweetness with an earthy dryness.

Man, compared to the original Chupacabra, this one has turned the taste up to '11'. And I loved the first batch! Rich and incredibly complex and deep in character. Woulda, coulda, shoulda grabbed a few more...

Poured at 60° F; no dating information noted on the can.

If you’ve ever had Humble Forager (not sure if they distro to Michigan), they’re an example of what I was talking about. It’s a side project of Forager Brewing out of Minnesota, but Octopi/Untitled Art brews all of the Humble Forager beers. The beers are smoothie sours, hazy IPA’s, and pastry stouts and they’re all very good.

Some like their lager, but it’s my lowest rated beer (tasteless beyond salt). The Pilsner is decent to good however, if you come across it.

I just wonder how that works as far as profit splits and marketing costs. Like could I come up with a cool brewery name and beer and pay them to brew it and distribute it for me? That’s the confusing part.

Not sure about the money end of it, but I do know that breweries that want to have a production facility such as Octopi or Twelve Percent Beer Project brew their beer send a brewer there initially to oversee the production of the beer and obviously provide the recipe to the brewers and all of that. I also believe the brewery provides the ingredients for the beer or at the very least pays for all of that. The purpose of this is to get your beer out to a wider distro footprint typically.

I'm gonna do my best to not toss a bunch of F'bombs, BS flags, and F'ing stupid quotes here. But......I just bought Heady at the brewery for $12.70 (20 cents for can deposit), Sip of Sunshine at Beverage warehouse for $14.99, Second Fiddle for the same, 4 packs of Frost for $15.99. Ten four packs at $34.99 is $60 more than my round trip ticket on Southwest from Orlando to Manchester NH. If the brewers costs are so high (not believable) that they have to charge $34.99 to turn a profit they need to repurpose their recipes. Jus sayin....Equilibrium is $22 at the brewery and that barely works for me.....Caveat emptor. Oh boy, could I tell you what $35 could get you in South Korea in the 80's.....ok, carry on, I'm back to my $3.13 Heady Topper.....
