    Good day advocates.

Drinking a Vienna Lager I basically never purchase anymore but I needed something else. Pietra, a Corsican beer made with chestnut which is one of the most known ingredients on the southern French island:

Pretty cool a highly regarded beer like Julius makes its way to Greece. Hope it makes its way here one day, or me to Tree House.

I am enjoying this European beer, owned by Duval, brewed and bottled by Liefmans, with walnuts and yogurt to start the day.

I wonder if we will hear Katy Perry on the radio 50 years out, or if there will even be radio. Hope I'm around if still cognizant and able to walk and live independently 50 years out (will be 101/102). I will still be enjoying beer if that is the case.

I will stick with the women theme and feature the two songs played Saturday from 1971, which have stood the test of time.

Hey she has a daughter with Orlando Bloom as well now.

I like her occasionally, for some older of her tunes.

@ChicagoJ and other Illinois people, if you enjoy the Onions satiric posts. You might enjoy this one:

Clear, light gold body; moderate carbonation; thick and frothy head, white and sticky to the glass. Very pleasing nose; light, soft malt scent with a light to moderate touch of spiciness. The taste is likewise light and subdued yet definitely pleasing; gentle malt sweetness with a moderate hop presence; light bitterness yet sporting a very enjoyable light spiciness; clean. Light body; crisp and gentle on the palate; just enough residual sugar to add softness; semi-dry finish.

This beer delivers some wonderfully subtle and satisfying touches to the palate. It's light and refreshing with just the right amount of hop bitterness and spiciness to liven things up.

Poured at 43 °F; no canning date seen.

...my primary Dell laptop is in serious need of having the operating system reinstalled. I missed out on a post or two last night while trying to fix several issues, but there's no getting around the need to reinstall. So, spending most of today backing up my drives; already created my Dell restore USB drive, so tomorrow the beast gets refreshed. It should make the upgrade to Win11 easier. Too bad I rely on Windows-based graphics programs for most of my photography tweaks (not necessarily for BA), otherwise, I'd stick with Linux...anyway, once a techie, always a techie...

Its an okay beer, but shy of good honestly.

It’s probably best enjoyed in summer, considering its original location, I choose a wrong autumn day to enjoy this one and barely even finished it.

    Good evening everyone, Advocates!
Tonight as an after dinner beer I wanted an interesting beer and I chose this one from the cellar:

Wicked Weed Brewing (Asheville, North Carolina, USA) - OLD FASHIONED - Old Ale Bourbon Barrel Aged (10.5%)

Aged in fresh Bourbon barrels with the addition of Montmorency cherries, black cherries and fresh orange peel.
37.5 cl bottle (€ 8.50), bottling date: 04/12/2018. No other indication.
Freshly uncorked, Sherry perfume (molasses, cherries in alcohol, wood).
Poured is charged amber, dark. A red that tends to dark brown.
Quite minimal foam, with very little structure.
In the mouth, for those who know the Old Fashioned cocktail to which it is inspired, the taste is truly reproduced in a clear way: one cannot but think of that cocktail.
Medium / full body, soft, enveloping even if the alcoholic notes of the whiskey are well hidden both by the game of malts (much appreciated) and by the added ingredients.
But in the same way, the taste is very smooth (and enhanced) by the woody notes that round out all the scents that emerge (from the fruity of black cherry, to the candied hint of orange, slightly toasted notes in which notes of maple syrup emerge. and also a hint of licorice) during the drink.
The mortar base, which contributes with delicate toasted and caramelized notes in the background, perfectly supports the interplay of ingredients that occupies the main scene.
Prevailing flavors of Marsala wine (historic Sicilian grape variety), black cherry, candied fruit (orange), spices (cloves, but also slightly peppery notes), licorice note on a slightly toasted base.
Sweet, hot even if the alcohol is very well disguised.
Very complex beer, not a mere transposition of the reference cocktail into beer.
I especially appreciate the balance achieved by trying to avoid thinking about the fact that actually the taste is truly faithful to that of the cocktail and trying to concentrate on the elements that I perceive and that are hidden in the background.
As it reaches room temperature while resting a nice glass, the beer evolves (clearer notes of cherries in alcohol and candied orange are made, but also the malty ones reminiscent of bread crust) without losing balance.
Drinking is not easy, but pleasant and satisfying and above all it concerns a product that, in my opinion, is certainly something "different" for me, for example my routines regarding what I drink, but I recognize (and appreciate) the criteria on which it is based.
Complex, particular, balanced, modern but not reckless... even if not my favorite, certainly one that I'll remember.
A nice way to end the busy day.
