Wife and step-kid are cooking tonight, so I spent the late afternoon finishing assembling some outside furniture (with a fire, of course) and a couple of spoooooooky beers:

Have a good Hump Day. Pretty slow day with a couple meetings. I will probably play chess and steam the rest of the night. I bought resident evil 4/5/6 on sale so I have been putting off starting with 5 for days. I haven't played a shooter in a while. I want to find a neon green 7 string guitar, but it looks like I might pounce on a emerald green JP7 Sterling :nerd:. Got some instant mashed potatoes and a chuck roast in the instant pot for a nice dinner. Should be very filling.

Still tasting awesome and nice hop vibrancy.

Fine golden yellow body, partially cloudy; good carbonation; thick, dense, creamy white head, well-sculpted; sticky, spidery fingers of foam etch the glass. Nice citrus smell; orange and white grapefruit primarily; suggestions of wheat and oats. Taste combination of light cereal grains and biscuit interspersed with a quiet citrus tartness. Medium body; moderate tanginess; mild creaminess; semi-dry.

This is a nice hazy India pale ale, perhaps a little watery in the taste, but otherwise top-notch.

Poured at 48 F; no canning data seen.

Here is a good pairing on a rainy, cool, gloomy day...

Schenkerla Urbock and Stanley Turrentine's Cherry. One of his great CTI albums, with Pete Turner's stunning photography for the cover.

Another One. An IPA brewed by Maine Beer Company.

About 30 minutes ago, I opened a crowler of a DIPA I got at a local bottle shop. It tasted odd and somewhat off putting. I thought after a glass of it that I would find it OK. I did not.

At this point my friends I have to ask myself why I still buy beer I have not had before. And not just the thimble taste the store gives. I have rated over 1,500 brews so I should just buy the ones that I thought were really good. In this case I would have saved $15.50.

I gotta admit I am a bit testy tonight. My brother in law’s mom is being [IMG] taken off life support tomorrow. I have wasted a lot of brain cells drinking with the dude (my bourbon buddy) so I feel bad.

Crystal clear, medium copper body; fine carbonation; thick, dense and creamy off-white head; sticky blobs of foam cling to the glass interior. Intense toasted grain aroma; grainy. Richly sweet flavor, earthy and rustic; cracker; moderate hop bitterness. Medium body; smooth and warm on the palate; creamy; excellent residual sugar feel; moderately dry finish.

This is a truly delicious amber lager, hearty and welcoming with its rich smells and flavors.
