Ok, on to the night games. Rooting for Michigan and Wake.

Had a riff on a Sazerac between VT IPAs to reset my palate. This last one ( :slight_frown: ) was the surprise and one I liked as much as Heady fresh. The difference to me is vaguely similar to Pliny vs Heady - both great in their own similar but unique ways.

This beer held up for a couple months ok, but has dropped off in the last month. Not that anyone asked, but for me:
    • Fresh: Heady, Double > Focal
    • ~One month: Double, Heady > Focal
    • ~Two months: Double, Focal > Heady
    • ~Three months: Focal, Heady, Double
Still have a few VT beers left (almost all from one brewery north and east of the others).

Edit: also for me, Chinooker’d held up almost as well as Focal, but started a notch below.

This will be my last Genesis related post for at least the next 3 minutes...There was a lovely lady selling some, uh, "band merchandise" in the parking lot before the show. My cousin and I each picked up a T for less than half the inside merch table price. Thankful to have the shirt, but the spelling of "Phildelphia" yo...

    Buenas noches, gringos.

    Another Half Acre Tend IPA.

All is well. Did my half-marathon length slow run this morning, and the "tendon" is getting better.
    I'm ready. I will commit. I won't quit. Cheers.... y salud!

Holy hell. Most of the family is now on a tropical island for a wedding. I am not. Crazy drama. I can’t help from here…kids, adult doesn’t matter, can’t plan or communicate for sh!t.

War Horse Vanilla Turn and Burn. It’s ok, but I don’t enjoy it as much as the original. The vanilla tastes lackluster, like some generic bottled extract. Pity.

Lettuce wrapped Flintstone vitamins. Uhhhh. On the other hand, it’s strange how the mention of Flinstone vitamins instantly brings back memories of that taste, the texture, the tiny shapes…

Slowly moving through the Rochester Mills stout pack. Going with Chocolate Cheesecake tonight.
Nose is pretty spot on for choc cheesecake. Flavor is dark chocolate/cacao with a little vanilla that suggests the dessert. It feels a little thin but I think it's because massive pastry stouts have convinced me everything has to be super viscous. At 5.2% it's an enjoyable easy drinker. Cheers!

Now enjoying a Phase Three/Hop Ranches/Yakima Chief Symmetrical Design (Idaho 7/Pahto). An overarching clean earthy, resiny pine bitterness throughout that gains in intensity as you get into the finish. Undertones of pineapple, apricot, ruby red grapefruit, grapefruit peel, and cherry are there as well. These guys are making some of the best clear hoppy beer in the Chicagoland area right now imho.

@jzeilinger as a Big 10 Basketball fan, what you thinking about Mark Turgeon stepping down from Maryland? I'm no stranger to being rivals with his teams, as an alumni from both Illinois and Southern Illinois. Seems odd, and I don't know if I have ever seen something like this when there wasn't a health or really bad character issue.

It’s been like 7 years since I’ve had it. Almost like a new beer to me at that point. There are minor hints of fresh squeezed in it that I do not remember at all. It so damn good and such a beauty to look at.

FWIW they do have a beer finder. You could give it a try and see if it’s around.
