I do remember the U2 album. Didn’t see the Dead Kennedy until Frankenchrist. Now that I think about it more, I remember this one too from that year.

Yes, one of two albums from the short lived Paul Di'Anno era before THE (Paul) Bruce Dickenson took over lead singer duties, and the band burst into mainstream consciousness with their The Number of the Beast album in 1982.

Two more great songs/albums from 1980, the first a debut, the second from one of the OGs.

Motorhead was the band that took the mantle for me after Led Zeppelin disbanded after John Henry Bonham's death.

Judas Priest also among the GOATs in the genre.

Good afternoon BA's. A beautiful 59-degree afternoon with plenty of sun in WNC.

Today's choice is a traditional one from Anchor. Was a little worried i would not be able to acquire this after my relocation but a friend of mine sourced it locally. Nice to see that Anchor has got into the modern era the last couple of years with a truer ABV for a winter warmer and an actual bottling date instead of that alpha-numeric code from their archaic bottling software. Like this year's edition which has a nice touch of nutmeg and coriander and am finding it a bit piney.

JJJuiceee Project Galaxy + Galaxy from Tree House. This is markedly, IMO, better than the Citra + Citra. Drink what you like, advocates. I love you.

Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project -- Double Oaked Cognac Grow Old With You (2021)
    Barrel-aged barleywine
14.2% ABV; pouring temperature: 47 °F; canning data: unknown

Brown body with a mahogany red tinge, nearly opaque; thin, creamy, light tan head. Red courant and maraschino cherry aroma. Big, brown ale-like flavor with a hefty presence of raw oak; cognac undertones although the rye whiskey barrel aging is more forward; boozy but not overpowering; a bit phenolic. Heavy body; soft and mellow; strong alcohol warmth; fine residual sugar softness.

Saying this high ABV beer is easy drinking doesn't accurately describe what's happening when you quaff this beer, but it is softer, rounder than many other beers approaching this level of alcohol intensity. The rye whiskey and cognac barrel aging are nicely done and greatly add to the complexity of this barleywine. Big and intriguing in a wonderful way.

It's an interesting brewery to visit, what with the actual 'wooly pigs', but the beers I've had have all been great. I've been there once and made a hall back to Colorado. @Blogjackets has hooked me up with a couple of boxes recently. If I recall correctly, it was @WesMantooth who first mentioned the brewery to me. Perhaps during one of my home state return visits, I can hook up some some of these fine Buckeye BAs down at the farm...
