The week is done and now it’s time for some refreshments. Beer #1 is none other than Nugget Nectar. I don’t want to be that guy but here I am, this years batch is giving me flashbacks to 2009. I mean more of bitter hops and less sweet mango. It’s really good.
Beer #2 is Tired Hands DDH Alien Church with Vic Secret and Enigma. It’s tasty. Then again you could Double Dry Hop anything and I’d drink it.
2022 Sierra Nevada Big Foot is on deck.

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Coors Light (4.2%):
A light beer from Colorado with flavors of crisp pale malts, strong carbonation for a sharp and clean finish
    versus
    2) Oskar’s Lager (4.2%): A pale lager from Colorado that claims to be the everyday craft beer you can count on through the thick and thin. Smooth pale malt cereal flavor.

    3) Surly’s Invisible Rays IPA (6.8%): A summery NEIPA from Minnesota that has tropical flavors of resinous mandarin orange, peach, and guava.
    versus
    4) Three Floyd’s Barbarian Haze IPA (6.5%): A Hazy IPA from Indiana with flavors of resinous orange, tropical fruit, and pineapple. Balanced and smooth.
    (mismatched these two blind)

    5) Bell’s Porter (5.6%): A porter from Michigan that has flavors of chocolate and subtle nut notes. Well-balanced.
    versus
    6) Bell’s Double Cream Stout (6.1%): A dairy-free “milk” stout from Michigan with smooth and creamy flavors of creamed coffee and milk chocolate. A smooth finish.
(Correctly matched 2 of the 3 pairs blind)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Oskar's Lager:
This one has a nice smooth pale malt cereal flavor. Not complex, but more flavor than Coors.

    4) Three Floyd's Barbarian Haze IPA:
This one has a better orange citrus and hop flavors. Less thick, sweet, and resinous. Nice orange citrus, flower, and pineapple. Well-done here.

    6) Bell's Double Cream Stout: This is a well-made sweet stout. Normally not a huge fan of the style, but his one is done well, as I should have expected from Bells
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you try Surly’s Invisible Rays IPA or Three Floyd’s Barbarian Haze IPA this year?
Have you tried Bell’s Porter or Bell’s Double Cream Stout? Are you a porter or a milk stout person?

Going to take my newly acquired oyster shucking tools for a test drive in about 30 minutes.

Paranoid. A pale ale brewed by Triple Crossing. I am a bit disappointed in this beer.

Back... with another recent "me likey" beer.

In the dying light of the day, appropriately, TRVE's Sun Eater IPA. 7.0% of see-through west-front-range-coast crisp, bitter, melon-citric balance. Diggin this right now.

    Cheers!

I like this beer more than I expected to. I have to say, I feel 100% better today than I did all week. Still no idea what was ailing me, but I got a good nights sleep and ample chicken soup and felt pretty much like my usual self today.

Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Kentucky Fog Stout, 14.1% ABV. Sweeter than I remember it being in 2020. I'm thinking that the tea fell off a bit, revealing more honey. This was never one of my favorites, but still solid, and certainly unique.

I use this glass a LOT, but I especially love to use it for its namesake beer (and especially when said namesake beer was packaged 10 days ago!!!). This is the first DIPA I ever had, and it almost literally blew my head off - little things like ABV didn’t register with my nascent beer nerd brain.

I learned to pay attention - quickly - to ABV, especially when it hit 10% for a beer that is dangerously poundable. I used to buy a case when this released, but limit myself to a 6er these days, and I still love it. Just a world class beer, and truly a pleasure to drink.

I agree with you. My last two shucking episodes resulted in cuts to two fingers. I did not use anything! And for whatever reason, a slice on the tip of a finger seems to take forever to heal.

Got these shucking tools and the shucking cloth for a gift. In addition to the shucking cloth I am going to use a carving glove my wife uses. Based on my research my best bet though is to buy a good pair of shucking gloves.

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.
