It was minus 3 F when I took Emma out at 630 for her morning ritual - yikes! Feels more like the winters of my youth than the ones we have had lately....ah well

Some beer as my tater soup for lunch is bubbling away!

Good morning BAs! Our “winter”, such that it is, is here, and presents as overcast and drizzly where the temp fails to breach the upper 50s all day…should last about 24 hours…

Meanwhile, to “warm the bones”, I’m drinking “Cat Kong” (2021) brewery (Hidden Springs, Tampa, FL) only release, BA imperial (12%) stout with toasted coconut and s’mores:






Poured at 53°. Strong chocolate nose; tasty sweet milk chocolate/s’mores with coconut overtures…finishing my hand written notes…Cheers y’all and have a Safe Saturday!

 

Popeyes chicken with a Hopslam. I think the 16 oz can of Hopslam may be Larry Bell's parting gift to us. Larry's taken care of us for 36 years, I wish him good health and prosperity (a given) in his retirement. Vibrissa is one of my favorite localish breweries, mainly because they can good versions of styles most other breweries won’t attempt. This one actually sort of fits, sadly:


Head Lamp is a west coast IPA that looks and tastes the part, not just some words on a barely bitter hazy concoction. This one isn’t going to give you bitter beer face, but it does foil the solid malt profile and lives on the palate beyond the liquid that contains it.

Drinking Guinness, same old, same old. Had to pay for these today

 

I never do brother. I poured myself what would be a normal serving for me and saw there was only another oz or two in the bottle…. Can’t put that back on the shelf, it might evaporate. So I decided to kill it. Cheers.

Leading off today is Plain Chicken Nuggets from Stickman Brews of Royersford, PA. It's fruity and full of pineapple, grapefruit and other tropical and citrus notes. Looked for canning information...nothing. Looked for ABV...nothing. Looked for some description of the beer...nothing. The only information on the can is that they call it a Pale Ale. Literally nothing else about the beer. But there is a line that says, "It's a Stickman, just drink it.", as if that is some ironclad seal of quality. And I wouldn't call it a pale ale, either. It's pretty clearly a NEIPA. I will not be seeking out Stickman in the future. The beer is actually decent, but they've just pissed me off too much to bother with them again.

 

Troegs Sunshine Pils. I kept overlooking this for the longest time but it's for real. Excellent dry pils.

 

Actually, I was referencing yesterday's post. The Guinness rep was on site and bought me a few on his expense account. No such luck today. It was 0°F when I woke up today and it's 9°F right now, you'd love it here.
