Dieu du Ciel has a new distributor, at least around here, right across the river in Waterbury. One of my wife's clients works for said distributor and dropped a DDC bomb on us yesterday. Not complaining about the case of Peche Mortel, but it was nice to get some of their less known stuff. God, I miss going to Montreal...

DDH All Simcoe Everything from Other Half. I like Simcoe a lot. It's one of my favorite old school hops. Cheers!

Hey everyone, little late today to the bar as Da Boss had me assembling one of her never-ending Amazon purchases:grin:
So, i had to break out my sixer of Powder Day during the assembly. Construction was finished so i thought i deserved a 2nd! This brew is interesting as the hop bill is a bit different with the peach pit, citrus, and touch of tropical vibe. Love the bitterness and would score it 8/10 on my scale.
Da Boss is off working out in the other room so i am enjoying Sirius XM's Lithium channel and i just heard one of the great bands, IMHO, from that era. My daughter took me to a show for Father's Day maybe five years ago in Tempe, AZ. Have to say The Offspring put on a high energy mighty enjoyable show!
    Cheers!
    Tom

Pondaseta Brewing Co. -- Castle Black - Rye Barrel (2021)
    Rye barrel aged imperial stout
14.0% ABV; pouring temperature: 44 °F; bottling data: YEAR 2021

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Opaque black body; thin yet lasting khaki hued head, somewhat creamy texture; Nice, balanced aroma of charred grain and spicy rye whiskey. The taste follows along the lines of the aroma; sweeter, richer malt presence; chocolate; and mild suggestion of coffee; moderate presence of bourbon. Heavy body; smooth and silky on the palate; generally sweet mouthfeel with a nice alcohol warmth along the edges.

There is no information about the beer on the brewery's web site or the bottle label, but the base beer is described as "...rich and roasty imperial stout. Smooth and rich, but not overly sweet, with strong notes of dark chocolate and coffee...". I assume this is the same beer, just aged in rye barrels. I like it. It's relatively simple in concept yet lets the base beer and the barrel-aging shine in a balanced manner.

...man, what a great vinyl release for an under-appreciated sax player...the first cut is part of this Mosaic release, the Jimmy Smith tune is one of Tina Brook's first Blue Note recording dates as a support player...

I saw two of these in the singles section at Kroger. The singles BEER section people! Of course I grabbed them both. I’ve never drank a big boy beer from this brewery so I was ready to be underwhelmed, but holysh*t this is delicious! I finally got lucky in the singles section at Kroger. Cheers!

Dovetail's delightful, playful, balanced, Rauchbier. Prost!

Long work day, still a dung-ton of grading to do, but this will help me speed through it.
