    OK, advocates, this is it.

My final beer, real beer, for the week. Going to try and lay off the malt-sauce for the next 7 days until that trail marathon is in the rearview window. Got my last long-ish 12 miler in today with most of those miles at marathon pace.
Next week is going to be brutal. 26.2 miles with 4200 feet of climbing (allegedly)... forecast looks... interesting, snow and ice at the top, so this ol' man will take his time picking through the ice and single-track challenges. First trail marathon ever, first marathon distance since 2007 (where did those 15 years go?)...

So I'm making my final beer for this period a good one, my final Hopzilla of the last 4pack saved for this very day and for this very reason.
    Make 'em count!

I'll still check check in, throw out bags of likes here and there, but be sparing and forgiving about the next few days of NA shit-posting.

After next week's race, though? It's on like Donkey Kong. I plan to salve my ego, aches, and stiffness at Soulcraft Brewing after the fact....

    Cheers
    !

Ring Dunkel dark lager from KinderHill Brewery in Bryan, TX with a wonderful brunch pizza. This is one of my favorite beers from these folks who love to brew lagers!

Thx - adding that brewery to my "must visit" next time I'm in Texas. Got friends (@ A&M) who keep trying to get me down there to give a talk, time to commit. Cheers! Enjoy the visit and time...

NBW cross-post. @BeerVikingSailor, my mom played that album about seven million times during my childhood. I could not stand it, until I loved it. Listening to it now from your post. It is perfect for the weather where I live. @Urk1127, I agree completely with what you said. I saw Cannibal Corpse with Chris Barnes, Six Feet Under's first tour, and many since, and Cannibal Corpse with Corpsegrinder many, many, times. Cannibal Corpse has made all the correct lineup decisions. Chris Barnes does not have anywhere near the personality of Corpsegrinder, and his vocals have been horrible since the late 1990s. Tonight I am going to see Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, and Light the Torch, meaning Killswitch Engage will have both of their vocalists. Now there is a true frontman debate. Cannibal Corpse clearly had one vocalist that is better than the other, but Killswitch Engage's vocalist discussion is very different. Here is August Burns Red playing a ridiculously amazing rendition of the Legend of Zelda theme. I wonder if we will mosh to this tonight. Especially when the drums kick in with the bomb-blast beat.

Went and had the oil changed and fluids/brakes checked on the Shelby. Ten quarts of 5-50 synthetic and $170 later and we're good for a year.

Tampa Bay Beer Week (TBBW) begins today…at Cycle Brewing to begin my due diligence…starting with a Presta Pils while my stout warms up:

A good pils, but can’t wait to dive into the stout as I can smell the bourbon from a foot away…

I subscribe to this "Make 'em count" philosophy too, on timing the consumption of laaarge beers to either before or after a dry spell or big event. Good luck with the run.

Wonder how this stacks up to the OG Keene Idea. People would wait for hours for bottles and growler fills of this beer. Kind of confused where it's even brewed anymore, if Alpine is now its own entity, separate from Green Flash? I know Pat has started Mcilhenney Brewing in the old Alpine spot (?) Color me confused. Also, how'd this end up in Australia?

    a) Crazy perfect white head in a Carton Wine tulip glass that lasts forever like sea foam and glazes with lace.
    s) Who lit the reefer? This is hemp with the sooty re-lit smoke too.
    t) The wood, hemp is burning (in a good smokey way), someone has thrown spices and cinnomon/cloves on the fire, and is brewing up some passion fruit tea.
    f) Smokey, chalky, wet, pungent, astringent, wine like.
    o) By far the most unusual, most stoned IPA I’ve ever tasted - let along from the brothers at Twin Lights.

Just gets better and better, from seasonal three pack wax-sealed.
    a) Blackest, tan head, long lasting and lacing.
    s) Wood fire, roasted, toastedm, and dark chocolate notes.
    t) Deep, dark chocolate, think TATES double chocolate.
    f) Almost sandy it’s so tangible (like cookie) but creamy in the chew. Hides ABV.

OK, I’m a Carton fan boy,, but stretched on Context 1, back in fall 2019. Sold out! Now for Context 2.
    a) Firm reddish amber body with skinny sour head that fades to a peach liquid. 4 for color.
    s) Blueberries, berries, fall fruit, orchard perfumes all in bountiful presence with wild yeast.
    t) Follow smell and added wine-and-cider-like fall notes.
    f) tickle and tease as a great beer should be, kissy, and fervent, and wild.
    o) The consummation of years of experimentation, bring this one in a cellarable format please.
    I think this was formula:
    GRIST:
    Bohemian Pilsner, White Wheat, Acidulated
    HOPS:
    Super Galena
    PRIMARY:
Lactobacilus buchneri in stainless with blueberry added pre-fermentation
    SECONDARY:
    Brettanomyces bruxellensis in oak foeder
