I just renewed my MLB TV subscription. Live games in 2 days. Of course it went up. Everything is going up. I don't begrudge them. I'm thankful. Anyhow, Found a Scythe from Tired Hands. Did somebody say Nelson? Holy, this is divine. Looking forward to the summer.

Had the pleasure of helping brew at Soundgrowler Brewing in the SW burbs of Chicago earlier today. Had an awesome time and learned a ton. Did lots of cleaning, emptied out all the spent grain, and added all of the hop additions among other things. Brewed a hazy DIPA with Citra, Sabro, and Nelson. The hops smelled glorious! I’ll be back there in 3 weeks to try it out.

Now drinking a Soundgrowler Grinder Punch APA (Mosaic/Simcoe). Their new brewer used to brew out west at Breakside and Modern Times. He's changed the recipe on this beer and it is drinking like a true crisp, clean west coast pale. Dank cannabis, pine, earthiness, some grapefruit, some lemon. Very nice stuff.

I keep seeing everyone posting degrees. It's in the freakin 90s around Dallas today. I'm dreading our summer temps tbh. I'll think of you @Shanex as I drink my last Stella. Cheers!

    Happy Tuesday, VB Gang!

Ever Grain in Carlisle, PA turns out some really solid beers at a really reasonable price. This D-IPA is slightly dank and really enjoyable...

Good Times Made Here -- American IPA
    American India pale ale
    ABV: 6.3%; pouring temperature: 44 °F; canning data: 06/30/21

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Outstanding golden yellow body; excellent carbonation; thick, frothy head, white and sticky. Really nice aroma of pine and light citrus; soft malt undertone. The taste is rather juicy with a quiet tangerine overtone; very light malt flavor; moderately intense hop bitterness from mid-sip through the finish. Medium body; a little thick with residual sugars; coarse and prickly on the palate; fine, soft dryness overall.

For an India pale ale at nearly nine months old, this beer still maintains some great looks and smell. The taste and mouthfeel are pretty good, too. I would imagine a fresher beer would be even better. All in all, this is a great IPA, well-rounded and tasty.

Good evening, BAs! First time finally trying Softly Spoken Magic Spells. Unfortunately, it's over two months old and, as best I can tell, shelf-kept.

Still tastes really good, as expected. I'd love to try it fresher (and cold-kept), but I'm not regretting this purchase in the slightest.

    Cheers!

Surmapatt, an Imperial Baltic Porter from Estonian brewery Pühaste (12%).

Overall, this makes for a very enjoyable and well-balanced Imperial Baltic Porter with a great balance of malt and hops, as it should be for the style, as well as sweet and bitter, slightly roasted notes, with a great body and mouthfeel.

Oskar Blues BA21 Volume Six imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with cacao roasted peanuts and peanut flour canned 02/12/21. I'm liking this better with a little age on it. The roasted peanut taste is right there with the cacao and bourbon. The second best of the series in my opinion.

Thanks!! No real interesting Belfont stories other than it's supposed to be haunted. I played there several times with my old band and it was a really strange place to play. The bar was at an L from where the band played, so you couldn't see the bar at all. From the bar you had to go down a 20 ft ramp to get to the dance floor. But they paid OK and I had some good times there. Best of all, it's only 1.5 miles from my house so it was an easy gig for me. Cheers!!!

    G'evening BA's!

Well, Tuesday is about done and the house is just a little emptier. My buddy Tom is on his way home, my daughter went back to USF, my Pops is visiting his brother, and my oldest son is out with his friends. Of course it was back to work for me.
Unfortunately, my youngest son got the stomach bug and had been home all day.

    Time for a beer.
