New Belgium VooDoo Ranger, just an easy drinking IPA. Doing some research since the books are laying around anyway.

 

Looks like severe thunderstorms are heading my way.

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

1) Bells Oberon Ale (5.8%): A citrus wheat from Michigan that has smooth and gummy flavors of orange citrus, orange gummies and wheat. Smooth.
versus
2) BlackStack Working Title (5.1%): A "wheat ale" from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, tart fruit, floral and Belgian spices, before a bread and wild yeast finish.

3) Sierra Nevada’s Hazy Little Thing (6.7%): A hazy IPA from California that has orange, lemon, citrus, and pineapple flavors. Crisp and clean.

4) New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA (7.5%): A hazy IPA from Colorado with flavors of orange, pineapple juice, tropical fruit, and pine.
(Both pairs correctly matched blind)

Winners:

1) Bells Oberon Ale: Obviously great in Summer without explanation, so smooth. ...BlackStack was sure interesting and had some tart citrus, floral, and Belgian spices. More reminiscent of a Belgian Wit than the "wheat beer" I was expecting.

3) Sierra Nevada's Hazy Little Thing: Sure enough Sierra Nevada has slowly won me over with this one. Both of these are among the top macro hazy IPAs in my opinion. Hazy Little Thing gets the win for equally great flavors, but at a lower ABV.

 

A beautiful Thursday here in STL. Finally coming in to post some incredible beers.
