What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3558

Good morning BAs! Cat fed and Monday dump (and side trip to minimart/beer store) run done…on the back porch now with a vanilla porter:



Maybe I’m getting used to the flavor, but I’m tasting more roast chocolate malt upfront, and less metal in the aftertaste…

The day has started out clear as a bell with lots of bright sunshine. This morning’s sunrise showed off the ocean horizon as clear as I’ve seen it yet up here:



Yesterday afternoon cleared up and we did part of one of our downloaded audio tours in the car…nice drive with plenty of history provided by our recorded tour guide. We got as far as Waipi’o overlook - the valley of the Kings:



Kamehameha I, like other chiefs and Kings are allegedly buried in the valley…and the longest black sand beach (3/4 mile) on the island!

After not enjoying my previous beers from Old Nation I was sure I'd like this one, hey, a West Coast IPA, what's not to like. Unfortunately this. I assume the name came from the minimum speed everyone drives in the great state of Michigan....

As you can see, the morning rains are rolling in…I’ll wait for the inevitable break to feed the fish and walk the property…and probably drink another beer while watching the rain and enjoying my book and the breezy 70°… this place is easy and seductive … Cheers y’all!

Been away and missed ya'll here at the bar! Rainy Monday in NH, finally some time to relax by myself away from beach and enjoy this delicious brew.

60 days until next race... time for me to rein in the summer fun and get back to training schedule, which certainly includes a tasty beer every day!

We are on the mountain (between 1,500’ and 2,000’) overlooking Hakalau (I’d call it a neighborhood) about 13 miles (40 minutes drive) north west of Hilo, Big Island, Hawai’i; basically on the north side of the island with an easterly orientation facing the Pacific. Cheers!

 

Hello Advocates. Thanks @JamFuel for todays thread. I got behind w pix today and am enjoying my day off. Yesterday's music/art fair/Drastic Measures Brewing tap trailer scene was massive. Busy busy busy was I and I only got 1 of their brews! A hazy ImpIPA that was extremely good. Also had a couple of Toppling Goliath Wasserfall Pis. It also rocks hard. Now slammin' an Island Hopper IPA. The weather here today is barfingly hot and humid. 20 min outside, 40 min in the A/C. Cheers everyone!! Happy Monday!

Enjoying an oldie but a goodie, similar to the Kolsch I've been enjoying the past three days.

Pilsner Urquell



After several years of exploring the boundaries of styles and crafts, I continue to enjoy returning to the beers that consistently bring me joy.

Going to nap soon after staying up too late planning trips to the East (Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo) and West (Las Vegas, Nevada). Hope all of you are able to enjoy a trip near or far before the year is out.

 

Got a good walk/run in. Enjoying this atm.

Back in 81 or 82 I was planning to move to the Hilo area and a realtor had some properties for me to look at. They were on the South, Southeast side and I was really close to deciding. Something told me to look around some more on the other islands and as I remember, it was a good thing that I waited. The volcano blew around that time and the area I was thinking of was destroyed with lava flow. Just always think about this when someone mentions Hilo.
