    [​IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Summit Dakota Soul (4.8%):     This Czech Pils from Minnesota is brewed with North Dakota barley and has flavors of bitter flower, bread spice, and yeast.
    versus
    2) Iowa Brewing Bohemian Rapids (5.2%): A Czech Pils from Iowa with flavors of pale pilsner malts, bread malts, grassy and bitter yeast.
    versus
    3) Bauhaus Wonderstuff (5.4%): A Czech Pils from Minnesota that bready and salty flavors. An American twist of citrus before a slightly sweet and bready finish.

    4) Toppling Goliath Citroid (7.8% canned 4/29/22): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra hops for flavors of orange citrus, sweet pineapple, cantaloupe. A sweet finish.
    versus
    5) Toppling Goliath/Other Half 18 Hours from Brooklyn (7.8% canned 6/3/22): A NEIPA from Iowa/NY with Idaho 7, Citra, Saaz, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, and Mosaic for flavors of citrus flower, pineapple, white grape, and lychee.
    (All beers correctly matched blind)

    Winners:

    2) Iowa Brewing Bohemian Rapids:     A Czech Pils battle. My first try at this one. It has nice pale and bready malts with an appropriate bittering yeast. Spot-on for the style by maintaining bittering and grassy yeast without any of the usual American citrus that tends to leak into this style. Usually Dakota wins out but the beer was old so probably not a truly fair comparison.

    4) Toppling Goliath/Other Half 18 Hours from Brooklyn    : First try at this collab and was excited for this one. Has a nice citrus flower, pineapple, white grape, and lychee. Mixes TG Citra hops with the Australian hop flavors. Balances the flavors well. ...Citroid was alright, but not TG finest work. Leaned a little too sweet for my preference with some hop burn in the flavor.

    A milko pour from The Bearded Brewer, a Helles called Rucksack with a bit of roasted grain character.

    Making some decent brews here, though they fit the typical new brewer balance with hazy IPAs and quite a few bastardized Berlinerweiss (sweetened fruit). The pastry stouts still have a half a foot or so in the base settle, too.

    I’m enjoying the fact that it’s NOT ungodly hot to sit outside, read a book and enjoy a cold beer. Not much beats Victory Prima Pils on a summer day. Cheers!
