Brooklyn Brewery Oktoberfest, an excellent Oktoberfest from a brewery that knows how to brew lagers. IMO this is a slightly better brew than the Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Any other Oktoberfests I buy this year will be from local breweries .

Well, here's 10 clams from my buddy's beer gift. Not so intimidating to a cashier. I'll find something fun next brew hunt. This Bell's Ofest is very lovely. Prost!

I rarely drink Lord Hobo, as I rarely find it fresh. But fresh Boom Sauce is still the truth.

I guess you can tell by the picture that I was excited to taste this. Well, it delivers, sticky malty but the hops still hit well in the finish. Pillowy head and lacing last and last. Canned 17 days ago.

[IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Oliphant Festbier (5.5%):
A "Festbier" from Wisconsin with flavors of brown bread, amber malt, and bread crust.
    versus
    2) Earth Rider Festbier (5.7%): A Festbier from Minnesota with flavors of honeyflower, pale German bread malts, and faint citrus. Light, bright, slightly sweet.
    versus
    3) Surly Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Festbier from Minnesota that has flavors of sweet honey and pale German malts. Smooth and sweet.

    4) Modist Gravity Still Sucks (8.0% canned 8/5/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra & Mosaic Cryo, Talus and Ekuanot for flavors of citrus rind, grapefruit citrus, pine/herbs. Astringent.
    versus
    5) Junkyard Hazy Meditations (8.5% canned 8/29/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic and El Dorado for flavors of berries, papaya, and hints of cannabis. Sweet, dank, resinous. (All beers completely mismatched blind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Earth Rider Festbier
: This one has a nice honeyflower flavor that is delicious. I thought it was from Surly as the floral yeast tasted so. Surly has been one of my favorites for their lforal flavor, but this years Oktoberfest has not impressed me.
Earth Rider is cleaner, dryer, and delicate on the palate. Extremely drinkable and nails the flavor. Nailing this style is not easy to do, but this one is good. Might have to head up north toward Duluth, but worth it.

    4) Modist Gravity Still Sucks: This one has drinks well for a dank and resinous NEIPA. Berries and papaya all the way with some bits of cannabis. Appropriate body and a smooth, soft drinker here. Not quite the beer I was expecting, but a good one for a dank NEIPA.

I got a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday. My Mom sent me a package with an original pressing of Highway 61 Revisited and his live album with The Band Before The Flood :sunglasses: My childhood neighbor was getting rid of some of his collection and my Mom grabbed these for me. I played this so much in college I was a little sick of my scratched up CD ha (na, I didn't get sick of it, just started playing all his other albums after that). Now, I'm loving it, as much as the first time again.

Rock Fantasy was pretty much the only place in Orange County to buy metal albums in the mid 80's. I bought a ton of albums there including Master Of Puppets and Reign In Blood on day of release.
I moved out of the area years ago, glad to see it's still going strong.
