Good day BAs! Thanks @DoctorZombies for starting today's thread!

Well, yesterday's rain never materialized but it definitely looks like it today, but at least it's (relatively) warm on my nekkid head. Ian's second box is in the wind and should blow onto his doormat on Friday, if FedEx is to be believed.

Today's New Breakfast beer is one I've never seen before:

Bitter, not at all like Hershey's chocolate, at least to my taste. Old?

My daughter worked at Virgin Galactic for eight years, but recently switched to Jeff Bezos and Blue Origin. She bought me this glass, and I'm sure it will get plenty of use.

    Hey-o everyone.
My usual early N/A beer, ItalPils this time, after a 10 mile run this a.m.
Felt great. Accidentally did a 60 mile running week last week, thought I had caught a cold or something but within 24hrs Monday to Tuesday night, felt fine. So here we are.

Good to back on the feed in a regular fashion. I'll be back with a real McCoy later on today.

    Cheers!

Having another round of odd light. Super easy drinking and some refreshing naunced flavors that keep you looking for another gulp. I'm digging it. Definitely better than any American macro lager I have had.

Having some fresh Expedition Stout. Brewed my first beer last Thursday as a brewer in training, an old ale brewed with molasses. The wort turned out beautifully, now we just hope the yeast does its job.

I know. I remember being at Russian River BC in the late 90s and just knowing that that IPA was stellar. But so was the food. Great place and memories. Pliny the Elder died in 79 AD. The beer lives on and is very well named.

Today's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Fair State Side Pull (4.1%): A Czech lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale malt, bready malts, yeasty with a full-mouthfeel.
    versus
    2) MORE Huntley Helles (4.5%): A German Helles lager from Illinois with flavors of pale bread malt, honey, and a yeasty, relatively dry finish.
    versus
    3) Bad Weather Helles (5.5%): A German Helles lager from Minnesota with flavors of earthy honey, and pale biscuit malt. Slightly sweet.

    4) Modist Noteworth (6.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Sabro, and Eukanot for flavors of earthy tangerine, grapefruit, and some dank pine flavors. Mildly bitter.
    versus
    5) Junkyard Werewolves at Luncheon (6.8% canned 8/28/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Sabro, Citra, and Mosaic for flavors juicy and tropical citrus, pineapple, and bright berries, with light notes of cedar.
    versus
    6) Portage Lost 40 (7.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Mosaic, & Amarillo for flavors of sweet orange, melon, berry, and apple flavors. Leans sweeter.
    (All beers correctly matched blind)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Fair State Side Pull:
All three of these beers were a spectrum. Bad Weather drank true to the Helles style. Huntley was dry and yeasty for a Helles, sort of a mix between #1 and #2. Fair State Side Pull has grown on me. Didn't initially impress me. I've learned not to drink this one for the flavors, but the strong carbonation and full mouthfeel are one of a kind. ...and thus the name "Side Pull" (https://fairstate.coop/beer/side-pull)

    5) Junkyard Werewolves at Luncheon:
Labeled as a Vermont-style IPA, which to me is really no different from a NEIPA (An entire Beer Advocate forum thread on the topic). It drinks extremely well with juicy tropical notes of citrus, papaya, and berries. Juicy and bright with hints of cedar give the complexity to this NEIPA. Junkyard seems to consistently make good NEIPAs, worth checking out if near The Cities.

Oh well. It is fall after all. I wish I had a bunch of Gingko trees like the one in my front yard. That tree is cool. It produces the most beautiful gold leaves; then they all fall off the tree at one time, within a few hours. Just one clean up. That's it!
