It's a fun afternoon as I did a "blind" review of a beer received from @BigIronH on the NBW thread. I absolutely loved this beer.


I had a feeling. Haven't seen this one in New Jersey yet (if anyone has, then please respond). Hope we get it soon because it's a terrific variant of one of my favorite Wee Heavies. Cheers with gratitude to @BigIronH !

Holy cow, that's the gnarliest looking can I've ever seen. I usually see that with cans that are a tad under filled or under carbonated. Was it either? (However the carbonation looks spot on.)

Another local hometown brewery favorite.....this is hitting the sweet spot on this cold Sunday afternoon!

 

Went to Great Height Brewing in Houston this afternoon. They had their 5th Anniversary party yesterday. Though why would I want to be in an overly crowded bar, being served beer in plastic cups, when I could just enjoy a great Sunday afternoon and still have all the same beers?

I had a few Lothar Pilsners. This is excellent, and review over at the NBW thread.


Then Enchantment Under the C-Hops. Classic Double West Coast IPA with all C hops of course.


Getting close to finishing my Ishiguro novel as well, which I'm enjoying a lot.

Then over to Fins & Feathers. A great new chicken and seafood restaurant, opened by the same family as Gatilns BBQ, one of the better BBQ places in Texas. This is F&F's Jerk Chicken, oh my this great. Live Oak Hefe in the glass.

 

I dumped that Stone FML - I really don't like that beer. I only had it because it came in the mixed 12 pack. So moving on to something much better ..

Another really fine IPA from Arvon Brrewing courtesy of @BigIronH: Ghost Dagger, hopped with Citra and Bru-1. Great balance of tart citrus and sweet tropical fruit. And these days 7% seems almost quaint. A super solid New England IPA that I heartily recommend.

 

About to grill some corn for elote. Pairing that with pulled pork sandwiches and mash potatoes.

Its from packing/shipping. I'm thinking I'm fortunate this can made it. You can tell theres 2 imprints from 2 can tops pressing into it. The sharper lips put some nice grooves into this 1. They tasted great tho really good beer.

 

Settling in with a nice balanced Dunkel bursting with flavor.

Full treatment in the New Beer Sunday thread. Bottom line this drinks balanced for me, not too sweet, and I'm digging it.

@mschrei - Pink Floyd was ubiquitous in 1979, but I didn't grow to appreciate them until the late 1990s. Here are two more featured in the first hour yesterday.

Reconnected w/ a friend that used to work for me in the Navy recently. He brought me a can of this Red IPA from a brewery in Cali. He's currently working at Revision in Nevada. Cool stuff. Thankful, as always. Cheers!

It's amazing Jeff! When we were out there in October we walked around it and went to the visitor center, you have to see it in person, It was designed in like 1936 and opened for concerts in 1941. The Beatles played there in 1964.....ticket price....$6.60......cheers!!
