Shangy's was always awesome to go visit and walk around, this was back in the day when all you could purchase was a case.
PA found it necessary to change their beer sale laws AFTER we moved to FL.

 

I was told in no uncertain terms not to post beer pics during the wedding. The operative word is “during.” Cheers!

For a double-decocted lager, this beer seems a bit weak overall in flavor and mouthfeel. Good, just not anywhere near great.

I have never been a big Brunch person, but am at Southern Yankee Brewing and they always do excellent food. So why not...some brunch stuff. Eggs, tortillas, chorizo, peppers, fried potatoes arranged in a certain way. Like I said, brunch stuff, and its pretty good

Who's Paul Pale Ale in the glass, which is a great classic pale ale.


Then a Hexenbrut Scharzbier, which is also excellent. Still working my way through this near 700 page behemoth of a novel. And its very good.

 

1) Junkyard The Wolf (7.8% canned 10/14/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Galaxy for flavors of passionfruit, tropical peaches and orange juice.
versus
2) Other Half DDH Space Diamonds (8.5% 10/31/22): A NEIPA from NY with Galaxy for flavors of passionfruit, tropical pineapple, and peaches. Soft, smooth, dry. (mismatched the two blind)

Winner:
2) Other Half DDH Space Diamonds: A galactic battle for the Galaxy hop. Both have the tropical orange, peach, and passionfruit citrus flavor. Galaxy is popular, but not a hop flavor that quite suits me. Sometimes it can seem a little tart and yeasty for me. Junkyard can make a mean NEIPA, but the soft, smooth, yet somehow dry body is right on the money for Other Half. Dangerously drinkable, and for the $8 single tag I'm going to enjoy this one.

Honestly the by the case years were much better than nowadays. The beer was cheaper and definitely fresher. Your not missing out on anything but high priced beer. BCBS 4 packs are $40 now.

1) Southern Tier Nitro S'mores (10.0%): An imperial milk stout from NY with graham cracker, milk chocolate, and marshmallow flavors. Soft and sweet.

First try at this Nitro series and this one had the best rating (I'll have to try the rest and let me know if there's a better one). Great milk chocolate, wafer, graham cracker spice flavors. The nitro provides the softness and smoothness of marshmallow. The flavors of chocolate and graham cracker with the softness of a marshmallow. It's unique and fits a niche. I wouldn't want to drink a s'more any other way than this one.

 

Still a very good IPA
