Felt very confident going in that the Cowboys would roll by at least 10 points over the Bucs. Here is a toast to knocking out the GOAT :beers:

Enjoying a lovely Saison from Zebulon Artisan Ales on this fine 60-degree day south of Asheville.

Dark, clear brown body, opaque in the glass; dense, sculpted head, light tan in color. Rich, malted grain nose; cocoa; a mild note of cherry in the distance; earthy sweetness. Outstanding flavor; semi-sweet chocolate with a dollop of cherry flavor; cocoa; mild sense of whiskey. Heavy mouthfeel yet also soft and pillowy.

Mellow with a boozy kick succinctly describes this beer.

Dang, Are you on Tuesday or Monday time? Over here east of The Appalachians, on The Piedmont Plateau, it is foggy, rainy, and 49F. It's a classic Piedmont Wedge. Colder air trapped up against the mountains and a warmer air east. It can persist for a few days on occasion. I cannot say "poor Tom Brady".

    1) Drekker Morning Ritual (6.4%): A Coffee Stout from North Dakota with flavors of smooth chocolate, roasted coffee, bittersweet cocoa and lactose. Smooth and malty.
    versus
    2) Third Space Mocha Java Porter (7.0%): A Porter from Wisconsin with flavors of roasted coffee, cocoa, and bitterness. Dry and thin. (mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Drekker Morning Ritual:

Coffee Stouts are hit or miss for me. Too much coffee and not enough sweet malt to balance the coffee astringency can ruin them and drink like wet coffee grounds. That's what Third Space does to me here. Drekker has just the right amount of coffee flavor with sufficient lactose and malt to tame some of the coffee notes. I usually don't drink this style unsure of whether I'm going to find a nice Stout or wet coffee grounds.

    16 ounce can.
    Canned 01/11/23.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch tan head over a black body with very sticky, sheeting lacing.
    Holy sheets!

Nose of dark roasted malts and dark chocolate.
As it warms it smells of all the chocolates!
    Yowza!

Taste is dark, bitter chocolate and finishing with bitter, unsweetened chocolate.
As it warms it becomes more roasty.

Feel is very nice; (think light cream.)

Overall, what an utter joy to drink this and so glad I have seven more cans
as I can't get out there as much as I'd like since my days off are Hill's days off.
You better get out there before they're sold out (cuz you ain't gettin' none of mine!!!)

    1) BlackStack DDH Loud 755 (7.55% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Azacca, Galaxy, Amarillo, Mosaic & El Dorado for flavors of zesty orange and lime citrus, orange juice, and green apple.
    versus
    2) Phase 3 Unchecked Imagination (7.8% canned 10/31/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra & Motueka for flavors of orange citrus, zesty lime, juicy w/ mild grassy bitterness, and sweet apple. (Correctly matched both blind)

    Winner:
    2) Phase 3 Unchecked Imagination:

BlackStack combined two of their favorite NEIPAs for this one. Some zesty orange juice, lime, and juicy green apple flavors.
Phase 3 take it home here. Tons of tropical pineapple, green melon, and sweet apple. Incredibly smooth and creamy. Phase 3 has become among the top Chicago breweries for IPAs and they're still growing on me.

White Elm ¡Cocorrado! BBA imperial Stout, 13% ABV. Pours black with a one-finger light-brown head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing. Nose is strong coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and light bourbon. Taste follows plus faint pepper burn, bourbon stronger, moderate sweetness, slight bitterness, lingering coconut taste. Decent smooth mouthfeel, overall outstanding. I'm not usually a coconut fan, but this is good.

We had an ideal winter day, sun, light wind, temp in the upper 20's, so some snow/ice melting today. Unfortunately we have the next storm hitting mid-day tomorrow, looks like 6+ inches. Luckily just fixed the snowblower, hope it holds out until I get a new one.

    Hey beer peeps

Back from my trip north - another boat enters the "Boathaus" stable.....these great deals just seem to find me, what can I do?

Another new brew as well.....this one a rather flat shandy (lemon ginger) from BrewDog, that was brewed in association with Pelotonia, to raise funds for cancer research etc

the new addition - called a "Cats Paw Dinghy" - just under 13 ft long, with simple sprit sail rig, also can be rowed etc....guy I just bought it from was a preofessional boat builder....will not need much work really in the spring - glued lapstrake construction...he threw in 2 books, the original plans from WoodenBoat magazine (which cost $60), tons of hardware, oars, and anchor, 3 life vests etc

hell, the sail alone or the trailer are worth more than I paid for the whole outfit....score!!
