Glad we didn't get there - it's just a relatively fine snow here at the moment, Temp is 34 degrees at the moment so it's just melting as it falls. Even if it starts sticking, worst case will be 1/2-1 inch. Cheers!

    1) Off Color Scurry (5.3%):
An "Altbier" from Chicago with dark and smoked honey, floral notes. Earthy baked bread and a leathery finish.
    versus
    2) Fair State Dad Hat (5.3%): An Altbier from Minnesota with flavors of spiced rye, molasses, some nail polish astringency. Amber and bread malts. (Both correctly matched blind)

    Winner:
    1) Off Color Scurry:
Fair State has a pretty good altbier here. A little Nail Polish astringency and could use a bit more malt flavor is my only criticism. Off Color raised my eyebrows like they usually do. Off Color does it a bit different. This one has a smoked honey, floral, and leathery flavor which is an interesting addition. Don't know if it's quite an Altbier, but Off Color is never actually to style. They spice it up. Not every one of their beers is a hit, but if you like some fantastic beers off the beaten path I'd start with their Apex Predator and go from there.

Just look at how happy they are in that pic. Makes me want to have a beer w/ them. Wish I could have just once.

My pleasure, noticed I liked Hannah's post on behalf of her Dad, and reread it after your clarification on Sunday. This was before I posted or was aware of BA Folders beyond Great Lakes (now Midwest -Meh) and threads like WBAYDN.

Now that Santa Anita is off my bucket list, down to Delaware Fair Grounds (Harness - Little Brown Jug) and Saratoga, and hope to buy you a few beers if I ever make it up to The Spa.

    Thank you!

Co-sign on Off Color, a hidden gem. They do not get a lot of exposure here, and nearly always brew solid to great beers. Predator is a great beer and value. I haven't had Scurry, so need to hunt that down.

No change in my 2017 BCBS beer assessment, but I'm going down for a nap. Think I'm sticking to 12 oz GI BCBS from now on, 16.9 oz is overkill both in calories and strength.

    Cheers!

Nice 3 mile walk today and then on to Tap 22 for some reward beers. Goose Island Hazy Beer Hug today. At $2 a pint, well worth it. Our usual Tuesday bartender asked which Beer Hug to get last week and we said Hazy Beer Hug, and here it is the following Tuesday. She said she's getting a hoppy Allagash beer in tomorrow. Told her to try and get Allagash White, so we'll see. Guess I better get up there tomorrow to see what it is. $3 you call it tomorrow.

    1) Eagle Park DDH Demon Haze (7.0% canned 11/15/22):
A DDH NEIPA from Wisconsin with Mosaic, Idaho 7, and El Dorado hops for flavors of mandarin orange, tropical Pineapple, juicy strawberry and tropical peach. Heavy, rich, and sweet.
    versus
    2) Eagle Park DDH Citra on the Dock of the Bay (8.0% canned 12/20/22): A NEIPA from Wisconsin with DDH Citra for flavors of lemon and orange citrus, citrus rind. Smooth and soft. (Correctly matched the two blind)

    Winner:
    2) DDH Citra on the Dock of the Bay:
Head-to-head, couple of DDH versions of prior Eagle Park NEIPAs. The original Demon Haze is good, but I think this one just adds too much juice to an already cloying and sweet IPA. Heavy, rich, and sweet. The original Citra on the Dock of the Bay was a big disappointment. Mild and underwhelming flavors. I was cautiously optimistic that the DDH could help this one. Yes, it drinks still somewhat mild on the flavor, but they must have also improved the malt body as now this one is far more smooth and soft. Just look at the pour. It's extremely smooth and drinkable and much improved. I'll keep buying the Eagle Park IPAs as usually they are fantastic.

    What's good, BAs? :sunglasses:

Perennial Abraxas (Salted Chocolate) (2022) - 11.5% ABV Imperial Milk Stout with Ancho chiles, cacao nibs, Ceylon cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate sauce and sea salt.

This is so much better than the original.

Pure effing coffee. Such an amazing beer. I recall when @Roguer send me this a few years ago. I was still learning to drink stouts at the time but I can appreciate its magnificence even more now.
