My Masters invite got lost in the mail this year. At least I get to watch the guys play the course on TV. Of course a refreshing beer will aid in my lament of not being able to compete.

Afternoon hops. Not planning on cooking until later today, but this should hold me until then.

Enjoying an Edmund's Oast flagship IPA, nice subtle melon and orange flavor, nicely balanced and refreshing. Pairing with a classic remake of a Beatles tune.

    Good evening gentlemen,
as usual before the holidays, I'm living hectic days at work. Luckily my obsessions allow me a decent selection of beers to drink once I get home.
Looking forward to an (amazing) "beer haul" that is about to arrive in this humble abode.
    In the meantime:
Dugges Bryggeri (Landvetter, Göteborg SVE) + Stillwater Artisanal (Grand Mound, Washington, USA) - MANGO MANGO MANGO - Fruit Sour (4,5%)

Already drunk many times in a bottle, then I never found it again... Now after 4/5 years I've found it for the first time in a 33 cl can (€6.50 at the beershop).
On the bottom of the can, the best use date indicated is 02 November 2024.
As soon as the can is uncorked, the enveloping tropical scent of mango (I would have also said papaya, if I didn't know that there was only mango) enveloping.
Versata is an opaque straw yellow, slightly amber.
The foam is minimal and dissolves on its own in seconds.
Very light body in the mouth with light carbonation with a sensation of very small bubbles. In the same beer from years ago, drunk in the bottle, however, I remember a much more lively carbonation.
The taste is obviously centered on the mango which is the master. Other hints of tropical and yellow-fleshed fruit also emerge (especially ripe yellow peach).
I note that compared to my memory of this beer drunk some time ago in the bottle, it is that the astringent note of lactic acid which was very well perceptible and which cleansed the tongue leaving the fruity on the palate is missing, or rather, is very weakened. In this case, however, the "sour" note is really faint and in the background there are also light notes of cereals that I didn't remember.
Very tasty, but compared to my memory of previous drinks, it lacks that distinctive character that was brought about by that note of lactic acid which was much more evident enough to astringe quite decisively on the tongue, leaving it even slightly dehydrated, I don't know what you think @JamFuel if you've had the chance to taste it over the years.
I certainly wouldn't relegate it to "fruit juice" because in any case, even if much weaker, the "sour" note is present, as well as a minimum of hops which help, as well as in the aromatic bouquet, also to dry this beer without letting it flow into the sweet (like jam) or in the softener... but objectively I had a different memory of this beer.
Overall extremely drinkable and very pleasant taste, it lacks a bit of character, especially acidity, as if it had been brought closer to a more common or delicate taste so that no one can be "upset" or turn up their noses.
Good, but for personal tastes I preferred the sensations I had experienced when drinking it years ago when it was still only found in the bottle.

    1) Modist Unending 5.1% (5.0%):
An oak-aged Vienna Lager from Minnesota with flavors of oak, earthy and somewhat soapy caramel notes.
    versus
    2) Drekker Suggin’ on Chili Dogs (5.7%): A Vienna Lager from North Dakota with flavors of earthy honey, bread malt, and caramel. Lightly floral. (Mismatched the two blind)

    Winner:
    1) Modist Unending:
As far as naming the beers go Modist wins hands down. Nothing about Chili Dogs makes me wanted to buy this Drekker beer, but I felt a battle beers was worthy. Modist's is lighter but has darker oak and caramel flavors. As much as I hate the name, Drekker drinks decent too. Lighter honey and lightly floral flavors. Drinks more along the lines of a Dortmunder. The oak is a unique and creative addition that Modist put in this beer and this one is very nicely done.

Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger is an old favorite of mine. It is named for road signs that pointed pilgrims towards Thomas a Becketts's grave at Canterbury..It is an original "strongish" rich and malty darker ale. I'd like one now!

Unusual Frequency [Track 4] from Fonta Flora, an IPA focusing on Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe; nose is definitely citrusy but definitely a piney take on the back end of this DIPA. The nice thing is that the four-pack went for $13.49; not for how old it was but the worst labeling job i ever had seen. Listening to more Petty, a classic that got me started on his bandwagon 40+ years ago.

    Cheers!

Warm and muggy here today. Picked this one up a few weeks ago in anticipation of just such an afternoon.
