Had a wedding in the Chicago suburbs yesterday and now up to Michigan for a bachelor party. Quite a weekend!
At Wax Wings Brewing on my way up. Fan the Plumage TIPA (Citra, Mosaic, Motueka) on the left and Into the Labyrinth: Route 30 TIPA on the right. I’m typically not a fan of the style, but these guys manage to do it well, keeping it more on the dry side with great hop character and bitterness. Zero hop burn and dangerously drinkable. Fan the Plummage is more dry and bitter, but Labyrinth has better hop character. Can’t go wrong with either one!

Very special thanks to @ChicagoJ for providing me with this phenomenal stout to get my Sunday going. 2022 Oil of Aphrodite Extra Reserve, from Jackie O’s, a 14% Imperial Stout brewed with walnuts and Belgian candi syrup, aged in Bourbon barrels and conditioned on walnuts and maple syrup. Wowsa, this beer is thick, rich and decadent, but also not too sweet for me. Nice oak barrel notes work perfectly with the sweet maple and toasted walnuts. World Class beer here, Jason! Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers, BA!

I asked the horses if they wanted to split a beer with me…again, “Nay”…

I then walked down to the front road to snap a pic with the Rockies in the background now that the smoke/haze has disappeared:

Micah @GreenBayBA is in my hotel room and I'm a little hungover. First we are sharing the trve child of night pale ale collab with black dahlia murder. Awesome pale ale. Aromas and flavors of red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, yeast earth. Medium pine rind bitter finish. Light to medium body. Grainy malt and crisp sticky resinous hops. Lingering resin drying with minimal astringency. Super dank and vibrant hops. These feel like wet hops or something. A bit more heavy on the berries than I expected for Amarillo hops. But super impressive for a pale ale with just a few ingredients. 4.1

NBW cross-post. TRVE Brewing Child of Night pale ale. A collaboration with the band The Black Dahlia Murder. Courtesy of @beergoot. Splitting it with @superspak. We saw The Black Dahlia Murder last night. Who carry on, despite unfathomable tragedy. As Brian Eschbach commanded last night, "Say his name!" And we replied, "Trevor Strnad!"

    A bit cloudier than I expected…
    [IMG]

Jack’s Abby House Lager that is, the weather is actually a bit more sunny than expected, though it’s still mostly cloudy and windy. It’s still refreshing so we’re enjoying the deck with some Beatles - the band, probably with some of the bug that stole their alternatively spelled name from the band.
