Rereading Cormac McCarthy's book Suttree. I first read this right after I graduated high school, between starting college. I had no idea what in gods green earth he was talking about then. My first McCarthy experience ha. 25 years later, I'm obsessed with everything he has ever done. McCarthy just passed away last week, so its fitting I come full circle. Oh my, this is on another level of greatness I didn't think could exist, even for him.

A southern Gothic epic about a bunch of drunks needs to be read with a strong whiskey drink...so there.

Moved inside and she's making some Ahi tuna salads for supper, whatever she kicks up is always great. I was super happy to find Ghost in the Machine in town today with a 6/5/2023 date. It deserves every one of its 99 pts on BA. Our Christmas plans ( yeah, she thinks that far out.....I'm like WTF beer is next??) are to visit our oldest daughter in NOLA and visit Parish Brewing on that trip.

 

Surly Furious, 6.6% ABV, 99 IBU. I rated this 3.84, because it was more bitter than I prefer. I liked BBA Double Furious a lot more, rating it 4.33.

Had this at a local watering hole while waiting for take-out. I ordered a short, but the bartender apparently knew better than I, but he did have a Surly shirt on. Sat next to a couple on their first/only date, and he seemed to think it was going better than she did, based on her hand on my leg.

Indulging in my first Pipeworks Brewing Company’s brew courtesy of the exceedingly generous @Danmullens1 ! This excellent IPA is called, “Lizard King “ Mosaic hopped IPA.

 

Firestone Walker XXVI Anniversary Ale BBA American Strong Cuvee, 11% ABV. I rated this 4.31.
