Just grilled up a very tasty late lunch.

Ground chuck from a local meat shop, bacon cooked on the grill, Cabot American cheese, and tomatoes on a butter-toasted brioche bun. Seasoned with salt & MSG only.

I was reminded today by a post by @jonphisher that I should try out this beer.

Perfect sweet dessert after a salty meal.

    Fest Bier by Notch Brewing

    Cheers All!!

O'Haras comes and goes around here. This can was the last in the supermarket.
Love their Irish Red, but I've never seen it here.

    OCC Brewing -- Continental Blockade
    English-style India pale ale
    ABV: 6.1%; pouring temperature: 47.3 ℉; crowler info: 07/18/23
    Source: from the brewery

    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Clear amber body; abundant fine-bubble carbonation; decent head, white and soapy, loose bubbles yet lasting. Hard to perceive nose; very delicate note of light malt and sweetness with a dash of nearly noble hop. Light malt flavor; caramel; moderate hop bitterness nicely complementing the sweetness; a smidge of spiciness. Medium body; smooth and sticky on the palate; semi-dry.

I can't recall the last time I had an English-style India pale ale, but I do like this beer. It's relative simplicity is just a nice change of pace from all the latest IPA craziness. It is balanced and easy drinking yet also packs a nice ABV punch.

Delirium Nocturnum (8.5%): An authentic Belgian-Strong Dark Ale with flavors of brown banana bread, Belgian yeast, caramel bread.

The Darker Side of Delerium. Due for a first try at this since trying the original Delerium Tremens last month. Fairly new at the Dark Belgian Ale style, but this drinks similar to the original. Identical Belgian spices, but more overripe banana and caramel. Shows the booze slightly more with less citrus. Shows the booze quite a bit and sort of overtakes the beer slightly too much for my liking. Glad to finally try it.

I am pretty sure we find their Stouts nearly year round much like Guinness also their pale ale occasionally which is good too.

I was surprised the bar we hanged out in Amsterdam last January had Kilkenny on tap (decent beer too) but not much Dutch option like I’d have imagined especially in Central Amsterdam.

...sorry to hear about your ongoing knee problems...hopefully the MRI will reveal the issue and the resolution will be something relatively simple...gentle range of motion and strengh exercises may help in the long run, but you don't want to aggravate the root cause either...I'm also a fan of deep tissue massage therapy, although that also may not be what you need to remedy your knee issue...anyway, good call on slowing down on the painkillers, especially if you can live with their non-presence...I've always half-jokingly told medical professionals that beer is my drug of choice (but even that one calls for moderation)...best of luck to you in your future joint adventure...

Nailed it! The MRI is basically to know what’s the cause of the knee pain lasting longer than it should and there’s no reason it’s still swollen nearly two months after the injury. There has to be something else than just a kneecap dislocation which usually is healed after a good month of PT.

The physical therapist has a theory or two about it, I won’t go into details but nothing of it is overly worrying. Maybe they’ll need to drain some liquid from the knee, or it’s a different issue like the ligaments, any of which can be healed with therapy or at worse surgery if I can’t escape it.

...glad you're not overly worried about things...nearly everyone suffers through major joint or back pain at some point...never enjoyable, never pretty, but whether the 'fix' is something simple or major, the relief is certainly that much more enjoyable...

...on another note, I hadn't watch 'LA Confidential' in a long time...watched it twice yesterday...naturally, thought of you, boyo...

I pretty much had to do it, it was getting really annoying - I'd be taking a shower and the water would just shut off for about a minute and then come back on. So far, it seems like that issue is resolved, but if not then it means I need a new well pump. I'll know when I take a shower tomorrow morning. The well pump is at least 20 years old and they say the life of a pump is about 20-25 years.
