It's getting hazy and warm here. Refreshing my palate with a Notch Kölsch Style Ale.

    Morning, BAs!

@AzfromOz I'm with you. Those Drip series are fantastic, but finishing off an entire 16 ounce can by yourself can be a chore. It's just so much ... everything.

    Good morning Advocates,
The summer holidays have officially begun and on Tuesday we go to the island of Sardinia... before starting to pack my bags, I enjoy the moment with an excellent Pils under a sky that has just finished raining and an outside temperature really pleasant:

Birrificio Lambrate (Milano, ITA) - MONTE STELLA - Pilsner (5%)

33 cl bottle (€5 at the beershop).
On the label: "Best before: 27/02/2024 - Lot: M-0058/23- A".
It is produced with German hops selected as "Finest Harvest", the finest selection of the annual harvest.
It is the first historic beer produced by this brewery in 1996, at the dawn of the depopulation of craft beer on the Italian scene.
On the nose immediately clear notes of wheat and cereals, with a light scent of freshly cut field grass.
When poured, it releases a soft, abundant and fragrant foam (again cereals).
The color is duller than I expected, I thought it was cleaner.
Fresh but enveloping taste in the mouth: bread crust, rusk, subtle note of freshly cut grass ending with a slight bitterness that leaves room for the very fragrant taste of cereals on the palate.
I was unable to clearly decipher that note reminiscent of honey, typical of a German Pilsner, but honestly I found drinking it very pleasant.
There is also a lack of carbonation: while the foam is perfect, the body slides off a little too smoothly... In my opinion, a more lively carbonation would have helped and also given an impression of greater freshness to the product than to the taste anyway it remains almost "crunchy" and has a considerable overall balance.
it was what I needed now!

Pitch black body; no head or presence of foam upon the initial pour, but a bit of time reveals a thin, khaki ring with small flecks of foam temporarily speckling the glass interior after each sip. Rich aroma full of chocolate and fudge; charred grains; dark pitted dried fruit, plum and figs. Outstanding taste following along the lines of the aroma; rich chocolate chip cookies; amburana; cinnamon and ginger; mild alcohol note; coffee-like bitterness. Heavy body; dense and sludgy; mild stickiness on the palate; light boozy warmth.

Everything about this version of the beer is just plain fantastic. The taste exudes richness and complexity. Quite the barrel-aged Russian imperial stout experience!

Original June 13th, 2021 ratings and scores:

    3.75 4.0 4.25 3.75 4.0; BA aggregate score: 4.06; rDev: -2.6%

Very dark brown and opaque body; thin, wispy and patchy head. Excellent dark roasted malt grain scent; mild coffee note; cocoa nibs. Excellent taste; milk chocolate and dark roast coffee; moderate bitterness; moderate malt sweetness; vanilla. Heavy body; dry, roasted grain feel; a fair bit of residual sugar presence.

This is a very fine, tasty and luxurious imperial stout. The coffee is subdued and nicely complements the inherent sweetness of the base beer.

    Served at 55° F
