What beer are you drinking now? #4007

Crooked Stave Lupulin Gumbo (7.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Colorado in collab with Lawson's Finest Liquid with Talus, Vista and HBC 630 for flavors of orange citrus, peach, banana, and a tart yeast funk. Creamy and smooth.

An okay NEIPA here. Haven't had much of Crooked Stave or Lawson's Finest. I know both are highly regarded. One of the best looking pours I've seen in while. Downhill from there. Cool hop combination with Talus, Vista, and HBC 630. Haven't had Vista before that I know of, but definitely enjoy Talus and HBC630 (which could use an updated name). Something went off in this one as there seems to be some funky/tart yeast and esters giving it a banana and funky profile. Seems like some off-flavors, but I guess could be the hop combination. It's okay.

My tireless soap box is that I "advocate" for the ability to buy beer singles because I've been burned before. You don't know how it is until you try it. Even half a decent restaurant will give you a courtesy pour before you purchase a beer. Luckily this was just a single purchase. Would have been much more upset if I found these off-flavors after purchasing a 4-pack of such a promising IPA.

Guggman Haus Among the Trees DIPA (Mosaic, Simcoe, Indiana-grown Chinook). Yellow grapefruit, diesely dank, and pine lead the way, with accompanying notes of lime, berry, citrus peel, and bright floral. Has that juicy character you've come to expect from the NE style up front, but has a pleasantly dry bitterness on the finish.

 

Feeling like a hazy on a chilly evening in Northern Indiana, might as well go with The King of all Hazies (IMHO), this is a Mosaic juice bomb. Absolutely love it.
