A post lunch beer on the balcony - Guayabera:

Clean easy drinking citrus forward pale ale. A pleasant 69° on the balcony, slightly overcast with a cool, infrequent wind out of the north east; in sum, gorgeous beer drinking weather - Cheers y’all!

Einbecker Winter-Bock. A touch too sweet for me, but still enjoyable.

Riverlands Tamaki IPA (Nelson/Motueka). Got this as a Christmas gift from my brother in law, as he lives out near this brewery. Even with 2.5 months on this, it’s still a highly enjoyable hazy. These are two of my favorite hops and they bring lime sorbet, lime zest, big Southern Hemisphere funk/dank, white grape juice, sugar-coated ruby red grapefruit, some passionfruit, earthy bitterness. The age hasn’t hindered this one at all. Riverlands makes some underrated stuff.

Good afternoon, all, and Merry 10th Day! Today is a contemplative day. I'm finally contemplating lunch with a Rochefort Triple Extra after spending an hour on the phone with a Wellcare agent contemplating a huge beginning-of-plan-year copay for my Xarelto. Kaito is also contemplating something, but what could it be? Only he knows for sure.
    Cheers!

Well now...what's the ska with my fridge? Summit Saga Imperial IPA. Wow. What an EZ breezy big little scoop. Has sorghum sweetness, mildly intense hoppage, and a crunchy center followed by wholehearted dryness. Right on. Cheers!

Some half-hearted fridge cleaning underway this afternoon, and I’ve found a gem - Georgetown Brewing’s “Bodhizafa” IPA:

Citrus forward nose/taste. Bitter lemon peel and orange. I like! Cheers y’all!

Weldwerks/Side Project MD (Medianoche Derivation Imperial Stout aged in 15 year Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond barrels for 26 months with vanilla, maple, and cinnamon). Huge vanilla and toasted marshmallow to go with milk chocolate, dark chocolate chip cookie, quality smooth bourbon, charred oak tannin, some maple, very slight cinnamon, roasted malt, burnt sugar. Sweet beer, but the barrel balances it out decently. Nicely done.

    1) Tucher Dunkles Hefe Weizen (5.2%): A German Dunkelweizen with flavors of brown bread, caramel, chocolate, and bread yeast.
    versus
    2) Andech Weissbier Dunkel (5.0%): A German Dunkelweizen with flavors of brown bread, banana, bread spices and yeast. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Tucher Dunkels Hefe Weizen:
German Dunkelweizen Battle. This is a fun style as an alternative to hefeweizens during the winter. First is Tucher. This one has grown on me. Not as bready or yeasty as some others and slightly leans more toward a dunkel. Great flavors.
Next is Ancechs. Beautiful pour, and leans a bit more hefeweizen. Slightly more carbonation, yeast, and bread. Not quite as dark and today prefering the smoothness of the Tucher Dunkelweizen.

I'm new to this whole prescription drug deal, only in month 2. However it's no wonder they don't want to cure diseases...it's a trillion dollar business. It's a shit picture but the Eliquis I take morning and night is $10 per pill. The Picture shows that I pay $45 for a refill......and my wifes insurance saves us $628.99....f'ing unreal. Funny tho the Metoprolol has a generic, so I honestly pay 27 cents a month for it.......

Last day off today, but it was a good day. Got my new tires installed and it only took a couple of hours. Only problem is some of the adjustment points for the 4 wheel alignment are rusted so I have to bring over to my mechanic to have him free them up and then bring it back to finish the alignment. The new tires feel great and make a big difference, even though I didn't think my old tires were that bad. Having a Stone IPA and thinking about ordering a pizza for dinner tonight.

Waiting for a tow truck so my beer consumption and music appreciation is on hold for a little while yet.

Cost of meds is high. I can tell you a story about my meds you will not believe. No one believes it.

I will bore you anyway. I injected two types of interferon (Beta Seron beta 1b for five years, and Avonex beta 1a for 20 years). While working, my insurance covered all but a monthly copayment of $40. As of three years ago the monthly cost of the med was almost $8,000! No not a typo. Had I had to pay all of the cost it would be $96,000 a year. So in theory, I am the $2.5 million dollar man (approximately $100,000 a year times 25 years). No wonder I am such a stud.

The real horror began when I had to go on Medicare. I will spare you the rest of the story.

Commissar, a Russian Imperial Stout from Real Ale Brewing. Nicely done stout that is sold as a bomber year round, but is packaged with their Wee Heavy and Black Quad in a 12oz mix six once a year.

    Cheers
