This beer is awesome. Amazing tropical fruit flavors and perfect Belgian yeast notes. So awesome, I hope I can find more, I'll definitely get another next time I'm at Provisions.

Now I'm drinking this and watching The Avengers with commentary:

I got 2 Freds and 2 Adams and Adam is by far more impressive than Fred. Fred was pretty good, but this is just about perfect.

If they're available in your area try Stone's Sublimely Self-Righteous and Odell's Mountain Standard. Awesome black IPAs. I was surprisingly impressed by Alaskan's offering too (I usually dislike them).

Actually, I'm an idiot and forgot I had some Stone's a year and a half ago, heh. But I could do with more of this style so thank ye. And yeah, in Spider we trust.

It was my birthday, until a few hours ago. I spent the evening drinking my favorite beer (Breakfast Stout), and playing nerd games. (Meat thief via Catan)

Earlier this week when I actually celebrated, it involved many local beers out and about Grand Rapids and a horrible hangover. I did not wish to repeat.

Ok, this is a night of impressive beers apparently. I am now drinking this guy and it is so much better than the original Blaecorn Unidragon (which I already loved). And actually the addition of Beechwood smoked malts and bourbon barrel aging didn't make it over smokey (as I was worrying since the original is already pretty smokey). I actually feel that the sweet smokiness here is more tolerable over the long term than the more in your face smokiness of the original. Awesome, awesome night..

Because I know that those following along are thoroughly concerned with the progress of my journey... I apologize for the delay

Around 11:30, I finally reached it. Mecca. Russian River BrewCo.

    Perdition to start things off.

Followed by a couple more... Taste all the beers

Then onto my favorite hoppy beers

This is Happy Hops. Had Pliny, Blind Pig, and Row2 Hill56

Can't sleep now. Overly stimulated. Fully torqued (still). And a bit tipsy.

    Goodnight BA

Great minds think alike then

I wasn't that impressed with Sweet 16 it's boozy, but I guess that's what you get for a 16% beer. But my pallet was pretty off at that point. I just though it was average. I'm glad I tried it but don't need to try in again.

Thanks  The job is actually at a Wine and Beer shop so I think most of the extra income will go to that.

Homebrew ciders do tend to be very dry since all the sugars are fermentable. If you want a sweeter cider you need to use sulfite to either stop fermentation before it is complete to lock in the sweetness or let it ferment out, sulfite it, and then back sweeten with concentrated juice. The only down side to this is you need to force carb if you want a sparkling cider so you need a keg set up of some kind to do it.

I love the dryness. Plus that means less hangover the next morning. Thanks for the tips though. My wife would drink I if it were sweeter.

I ordered this the other night and the bartender recommended a sample. I'm glad she did. The Gingerbread was just too strong for me. Glad you enjoyed though.

You can't go wrong with the Unibroue. Not quite as lovely as La Fin du Monde, but elegant and the 9% is well concealed.

I saw a few cases of Flower Power at Buddy's Brews on Carson within the last few days. I'm not sure how old they are. D's in Regent Square had a fresh keg about 3 weeks ago, and since then they have had a bunch of bottles on the shelves. Again, haven't looked closely to see the age, but it seems reasonable to guess that they just came in with the keg. I don't remember seeing Flower Power there before that.
