Good afternoon, all! Lunch at The Horny Toad Bar & Grill, downtown Cedar Falls, IA. Diablo wrap, with SingleSpeed Prowl Golden Ale. This "beer flavored beer" features a flavorful bready malt backbone, perfectly balanced by a spicy and bitter hop kick. SingleSpeed is an outstanding local brewery that does a variety of styles very well. Any you can't get much more local than this, since the brewery is right across the street. Cheers!

The Loch?

 

1) Drastic Measures Krispy (5.2%): A German lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale malts, crackers, lemon citrus, salty notes with a soft, pillowy finish
versus
2) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Fair State Pils: German Pils Battle. First is Drastic Measures Krispy. First try at this and it has fantastic, althought limited, reviews on BeerAdvocate. Pours beautifully. Excellent aromas. Wonderful flavors of bread, lemon citrus, slightly salty. A pillowing mouthfeel. Drinks similar to a Czech Pale Lager. Very similar to Fair State, but less bitter. I thought this Drastic Measures German Lager is absolutely excellent and wish I had bought more of them. Side to side with Fair State, I'm not sure which of them I prefer. This beer could go places.
