Happy Saturday BAs! Ludlam Island Brewery, one of my favorite shore haunts, opened its new production facility/tasting room on Thursday. They puchased a former bowling alley, including its plenary liquor license. So, in addition to brewing/distributing its own beer, it can serve food and wine/cocktails. While this is the norm almost everywhere else in the country, it’s very unusual in New Jersey. There are only a handful of similar craft breweries in the state.

I’m drinking Pushing Bubbles, an old-fashioned, hoppy Pale Ale. Great drinking. Cheers from Woodbine, NJ!

Cheers from Good Word Brewing. Very cool new beer I'm trying. Ron's Dinner Ale 4.6%. An English style Best Bitter based on a receipe in Ron Pattinson's book AK. Made with Maris Otter, flaked rice, dextrose, Invert Sugar no. 2, Tradition and Kent Golding hops. Subtle fruity and floral aroma. Spicy and grainu flavor. Moderate bitterness. Drying. Extremely drinkable beer. Cheers!

On to a personal favorite - The Big Dirty. It’s an annual Spring release and I always buy cans. Congrats to Billy and everyone at Ludlam Island on this exciting new chapter!

Happy Saturday BA's! The wife worked then whipped up a lunch of spinach & mozzarella stuffed pinwheel steak, baked potato and broccoli. Occasionally I pour the Heady to see the beauty and enjoy it from a glass. Big horse race in Baltimore today, post time is 1850 and start is planned for 1901. Can you believe next weekend is Memorial Day Weekend........crazy.

ISIL cross-post. @Danmullens1 paid me a visit on this gorgeous day. He is sharing this with me. I am about to embark on a long day of violent mosh pits in high temperatures, so splitting multiple bottles of high ABV stouts beforehand is for the best.

    1) Equilibrium South St. Pils (5.5%): A German Pils from NY aged in oak with flavors of pale malts, earth, oak, and floral notes. A dry yeast.
    versus
    2) Evil Twin Greenhouse Hoppy Pilsner Conditioned on American Oak Foudre (5.0%): A German Pilsner from NY with Citra and Simcoe for flavors of floral hops, citrus, earthy and smooth pale malts. A bitter finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Evil Twin Greenhouse Hoppy Pilsner:
A Oak-Aged Pilsner battle. Both from New York. First is Equilibrium. It has floral, earthy notes. Yeasty and a smooth finish.
Next is Evil Twin. I tried this one last year and was extremely impressed. It's a bit more expensive nearing $4-5 a pop. But once again, it impresses me this year too. It's incredibly floral upfront. A bit earthy and yeast in the middle. What makes it great is the bitterness on the finish is perfect for a pilsner. A strong, bitter finish that cleans the palate. The only downside is they need a better name. This may be one of the best German Pilsners I've had. If you can find it fresh, I'd recommend giving this a try.
