I've never had this beer fresh, so no idea what it was back in the day.

2015 release:
A bit of smoke upon opening the bottle. This beer is dark pouring beer. It looked like cola while pouring, but in the glass it is pitch black. There's a 1 finger tan head that had decent retention, but no lacing on the glass.
The nose is very wild and funky. There's a grassy earthy aroma to this beer. Very floral here. I get the faintest hint of the coffee. What I'm getting doesn't have a green pepper character, which is surprising.
Taste - The beer is a very wild and funky beer. I am getting a ton of tartness here, like a tart cherry. There is a good funk here. The coffee is actually coffee at this late date, and not green pepper. The coffee hits in waves, but then dissipates only to come back again. There was a faint chocolate hit with the coffee. Tons of funk.
The coffee almost has a sweetness to it, but this is cut big time by the tartness and funk. There's actually a bubbly feel to this beer in spite of the age.
Jeez. This beer just shocks and amazes me. They really know their stuff, and it is recommended to the extreme.

 

Now trying The Olde Ways, a dark Belgian strong ale. The flavor is there. Not much head and the body is a bit thin.

Covert Artisan Cinnamon Vanilla Pillow Fort Brandy BA Imperial Stout, 13% ABV. I previously rated this 4.15.

 

Equal Parts Ponderosa IPA. This is great, but my last for now...need to get back to the brewery for some more. They need to distribute this one, great classic west coast IPA.

Ramping up for tomorrow, have tickets to see Billy Harper play. At 80 years old, one of the legendary jazz musicians from Houston. His album Capra Black is amazing. Can't wait for that show...only one more work day

 

Few things beat a good Shwarbier

 

I go to the North Main one a lot (and is the one close to Pintertons, good BBQ), but this is the original on 18th Street. They are both about equal distance from me, both like 2 miles apart. So it is up in the air which one I got to sometimes. If I do my $2 Old Fashioned's at Johnny's then I got to North Main cause they are real close ha, but I didn't get my cocktail hour on and could have another beer

New DIPA from CLAG

 

Lupulin Tunnel Buddies (5.7%): A West-Coast Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, tart citrus flower, pale malts and yeast.

A "West-Coast" Pils that has lots of citrus and hop flavors. American hops all the way here and lots of Citra. Leans toward an IPL, but still has a deently pilsner-like mouthfeel and finish. Not bad for a hoppy pilsner.
