Kind of a dreary day today in these parts. The traffic has been horrendous between the people coming down to start a weeks vacation and the huddled masses down here for the 4th leaving.

Back home safely from 4 days at Clearwater Beach, perfect weather and lots of great food and drinks. Apparently our youngest daughters boyfriend still feels like he needs to win me over, King Julius from his last trip.

Legendary tune.......

 

My first time trying this Helles from The World’s Oldest Brewery, this is an excellent example of the style, with sweet bready flavors complemented by some spicy grass and lemon notes with a crushingly crisp, clean mouthfeel. Absolutely love it.

Met my cousin's newborn this morning and she was absolutely precious.

Went out with the kiddo's for some dino nugs and waffle fries. Had a DUBCO x. Wild East Gavone. Billed as an Italian Pilsner...tasted like a regular Pilsner to me

Oddside's Mexican coffee stout. Underrated on BA to be sure. It's as hot here as I can ever remember, hiding inside until Monday morning is the plan. Cheers!

Central Waters Cassian Sunset Bourbon Barrel Stout, 10.5% ABV. I previously rated this 4.31. Grilling some porkies, and busting out some old glassware. This one was a freebie at Bubba Gumps, with a drink special.

Me: I do think this Upslope German-style Pils if Upslope's finest beer. I like a couple of their darker beers, but this.... is just so crispy, cracker-bready, light, full of character, clean, drops off a cliff. Fantastic. I don't think Upslope makes a more true-to-style beer. oof. Now... choices, choices.. hmmm... for beer #2.

 

#2, this is exactly as described on the bottle - a piece of chocolate pie, with nuts, vanilla, and marshmallow to hold up the “dessert” side of the equation, and some salt to cut the sweetness a bit so it’s not cloying. I’d try this again in a minute.

I had the pleasure of having lunch with @Blogjackets recently. I mentioned that I had never tried hamms which he replied it's in the box I just gave you.
