This may be the darkest imperial stout that I have had. It's very good.

I've not seen that one yet/ever, but it's on my 'Wants' list. I think you like the Dunkel style more than I do, so I'll bet that's a real treat. Cheers!

Found this newly released collab brew yesterday from Schilling ✕ Cohesion Brewing Co.

'Tis my starter on this rainy Columbus Day.

A bit thin mouthfeel for my preference, but great flavors.

    Cheers Advocates!

EDIT: I agree with this guy:

“I think tmavé pivo works best when it’s brewed at 13°P and above,” he says, referring to the Plato-scale equivalent of OG 1.052. “Weak tmavé pivo is weird. For me, the wateriness of 10°P beer just doesn’t go together with the fullness of the dark malts.”

Actually I was planning do to a bit of Stoptobre.
But well, all you BA's are so enthousiastic about my Dutch Autumn Bock reports that I will sacrifice my liver to entertain you.

La Trappe (the only real Trappisten Bock) Bock vs Heinekens underestimated B-mark.
    Both boasting 7% abv.

La trappe wins the pouring contest. What a foam, but please note, the decent pour of Amstel. Nothing wrong with that.

La trappe, subtile floral hints, little bit of pleasant clean chlore smell, creamy mouthfull taste, little bit dark burnt notes, it is a wonderful beer.

Amstel: bit of wet-dog-hair malts, coffee, burnt caramel. But less mouthfeel, but really good dark aromas. This is roasted well. Sadly not the banana hints of the old editions, but really good.

At the end I would go for LaTrappe. But mind you, it is almost double price as the Amstel.
So when it comes to price-quality, Heineken could have a winner here for once in years.

I can't even remember the last time I had a Roggenbier. Have I ever? Well I have now, and this one is great. Malty but not heavy, and some nice "spice" flavor coming from the Hefeweizen yeast.

I've got a handful of delicious Pilsner Urquells to attend to today before another brief beer break.

Columbus Day Weekend wrapping up with persistent cold rain. My lawn will be happy as I've put an embargo on any further watering this season after a $400 water bill for the summer quarter!

The 2024 NE Mountain Running Circuit concludes with our regional finals, coming up on Saturday at the Cranmore Mountain Race.

It's an awesomely fun 2-lap 10K course where we get to use the mountain bike downhill course for the descent, running sideways up on steep-banked turns with utter abandon!

Looking at my time from last year, don't think I have any chance of a PR, but I'm gonna try!

    Cheers BAs!

I’m giving my palate a brief respite from fresh hops (that programming will resume shortly—I still have twenty-three 16oz cans to get through) to enjoy a few Oktoberfest beers before it’s November. Cheers!

Went to Moe's Tavern in Lee, MA for their "Moe'sapalooza 17" event today. They had two Hill Farmstead beers on tap, along with a vendor selling oysters.

I got there for open, and there wasn't much of a crowd. Ordered my first beer, a Hill Farmstead Foster, which is an IPA with Citra and Simcoe, which was delicious.

As I was drinking it I went to go buy a dozen oysters, to only be told that they were cash only, in the year of our lord, 2024. There wasn't an ATM close, so no oysters for me.

I started watching the 1PM Bruins game that they had on, as I'm a big hockey fan. Two people sit next to me, one of them wearing a David Pastrnak jersey, "great", I think. Then they just start talking about their prop bets and parlays on the game, while having next to no knowledge of how hockey is played.

I figured I was already there, so I got a second beer and a bag of chips. The beer was a Hill Farmstead Harlan, which is a pale ale with Columbus, Simcoe and Nelson Sauvin hops. Really enjoyable beer, as were my salt + pepper Joe's Chips.

    Continued:

As the betting talk wouldn't end, I decided to head out after this beer, at the end of the first period. I got home and cracked a Tree House - Fresh Hop Citra Pale Ale - Coleman Farms, which is a great fresh hop pale ale. Really deep citrus flavor. And now I'm able to watch the Bruins game in peace with my wife, while not hearing about f'ing Draft Kings parlays.
