    Permanent Funeral!

    Just as good as last year and it follows a decent west coast pils now that I'm done tracking guitars and bass for the day. My most recent haul is full of big beers and this one is gonna be followed by a stout or 2, if I feel up to it.

    ...the only reason I still use Windows is primarily for photo processing (sorry GIMP fans, that program still doesn't cut it for me - powerful features, just don't like the GUI), otherwise I'd dual boot Windows with Ubuntu (which I've done every so often for laptops)...also, Mrs. BeerGoot relies a lot on Windows programs for her things...

    ...I have upgraded our desktop and my two laptops with SSDs for the OS software...and many backup drives I get are now SSD vice HDD (plus I have emergency recovery Win and Linux OS software on good ol' thumb drives...

    ...never tried Arch...use to use Red Hat a fair amount, but have settled into the simplicity of Ubuntu for things (especially in the 'Fortress of Solitude' laptop), and, when necessary, don't mind getting into cmd line actions on Win or Linux when situations call for it...

    Sounds like you've got everything covered!

    Give GIMP another look when 3.0 finally arrives sometime this year or next. Completely redesigned. I've been using development snapshot releases for a year or so.

    I've never been one of those MS-hating Linux fanbois. It's a fine and stable environment in general.

    Linux got a hold of me with Slackware in the mid 90s as a student, then I did some driver development under Red Hat 6, and then I discovered Arch in 2006 and never looked back.

    Oh, and the Linux ecosystem essentially provided my entire career in development/devops/security/etc...so... yeah.
