Not as much of a dump as you would think. In fact most replies didn't even mention lost abbey.

A beer you would drink flat

I'm quaffing The Bruery's A Stein's Throw. A decent barleywine, but honestly, the matter in which they made it (they used 900 degree granite rocks and added to the wort to carmelize) is more interesting than the actual beer. Just my humble opinion.

Warm December weather means I'm in the mood for New Glarus Hometown Blonde... I sure hope this returns next year!

Thanks for the link! No carbonation=not so much of a big deal with some brews. I was quite surprised.

This has been a "whale" for me for a while now, considering they didn't distribute it in NY this release, but I finally was able to score a four pack in CT.

Very, very, very solid. Nothing but love for SN.

And while drinking whales, I'm listening to whales:

Not this year, I can't go into why (SN told me via email), but I can assure you it's not. They said maybe by next year. Gotta hop the border to get that shit this year!

Wow! I didn't realize The Bruery made a barleywine like this. What a neat idea. Usually, beers make like this are doppelbocks. I looked for quite a while for a traditional steinbier and this one (LINK) is the only one I could find.

    Thanks for sharing that!
