Just poured my first from Bissell Bros. Really enjoying this brown ale. Review over in NBW soon (p.s., come and join us in the best room at The Bar).

These breadsticks are basic but good.

Wicked weed milk and cookies. Pastry stout. 8.5%. Great head retention and spotty soapy lacing for the abv. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, light pine/herbal/woody hops. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, dark bread, vanilla, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, smoke, char, cinnamon. Medium pine, char, cinnamon/woody bitter finish. Medium carb and medium full body. Balanced creamy/silky/bready malt and sticky resinous hop/spice mouthfeel. Lingering resin drying with some charred astringency. Overall just way too bitter and astringent for a pastry stout, but has great malt complexity. 3.65/5

    1) Third Space Good Cheer (5.4%): A German Dunkel from Wisconsin with flavors of dark grains, cocoa, oak and earth, faint roast.
    versus
    2) Bent Paddle False Hibernation (5.2%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of black malt, bread, coffee roast, cocoa, and dark fruit. Dry, clean and smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Third Space vs. Bent Paddle battle.
First is Third Space, their dunkel. Smooth chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, faint roast. Balanced and smooth.
Next is Bent Paddle False Hibernation. A Czech Dark Lager. Cocoa, chocolate, a faint roast. Yet smooth and soft. Excellent.
Both are very good, but I think Bent Paddle False Hibernation is a bit truer to style.
    Winner: Bent Paddle False Hibernation

Watching the same game right now. Yeah, Illinois has looked a little sluggish over the past few games but with 14 minutes and only down 7, plenty of time left!

Four Saints that's the way it gose. Aromas of big sour green apple, white grape, lacto funk. Taste of tart/sour green apple, white grape, lemon, wheat, light sea salt, herbal, grass, lacto funk. Medium tart/tangy finish. Medium plus carb and light body. Crisp clean refreshing finish. Balanced grainy malt and lactic acid in the mouthfeel. Minimal salinity or pucker factor. A very basic and not too acidic gose. Thoroughly enjoyed. 4/5

Out on another beer day, so need to catch up later. Thanks yesterday for those wishing me a happy BA Anniversary, and looking forward to your return this Spring @eppCOS .

At my other favorite Chicago Brewery today, starting with this light but tasty session IPA, brewed as a house beer for Pequod’s.

Full New Beer Sunday #1041 treatment linked here. WBAYDN treatment, nice dry slightly bitter session IPA. Light on aroma, strong on flavor with Citrus, Tangerine and a pine backing the primary flavors. Well done as usual.

NHL and the Grateful Dead channel on here, can’t beat that combo! Playing now.
